For my main synth I'm using this:

Eight voices of Pitch, Velocity & Trigger (busses a-d are internal only, and busses E-H are brought out on jacks). Twelve continuous controllers (or bend or aftertouch) available on Jacks via busses J-P.

I also have a Kenton Pro 2000 for my old synths, but really haven't used it much.

I used my Basstation Rack for a while... MIDI to CV/Gate - CV/Gate to MIDI If I remember right it has a 5 octave range, no pitchbend.

There's the excellent and affordable Frostwave QUAD Midi/CV. Does Hz/v DIN Sync and has a fun joystick mode too. 16bit DACS and jacks on the front made this a winner for me.

The only MIDI Tuning Standard-compliant choice as far as I know:

It can store several tuning tables onboard, but I'm not sure how many. Handles up to 4 MIDI Channels.

The Moog Voyager can act like a MIDI/CV converter - it is one of the few keyboards that has CV outputs, that are still in production today. Perhaps it's the only one?

I've got the Encore (got it before good Mr. Blacet released his) and it is great. 16 bit precision, no zipper, programmable, a bit pricey but worth it.

If you use the Expressionist with a modular (is there another use?) with 1/8 or 3.5mm jacks, Ad Inifitum makes a great multiple which brings the CV's and Gates out to a 19 inch 1U high panel.

And a few Doepfer midi controler/seq also integrate CV / Gate outputs:
- Maq 16: 3 Control Voltage and 3 Gate outputs are available
- Regelwerk: 8 Control Voltage and 8 Gate outputs are available
- Drehbank: 8 CV inputs for external control voltages 0...+5V are available
- Schaltwerk: 16 Control Voltage and 8 Gate outputs are available

Maybe the Motu Ultralite (and other Motu's) can qualify here? You can send CV out. The other way round should supposedly work, but my unit is frankly a bit wobbly on this one - CV in can't be trusted.

It can be used for MIDI > CV, but more likely usage is DAW > CV. Still awesome for the price, and you can use any audio device they list as compatible.

The basic idea is to use VST plugins to convert MIDI to audio signals, which are then sent out your audio card as CV signals. Buffering *may* be necessary. But it has automatic features, too...such as tuning Smile

A cheap replacement for Volta, if you will! But certainly not less in features.

what about a midi 2 cv with a build in midi-syncable lfo? I know doepfer has one, but have you seen any other converters with build in midi drive lfo?
