Dead keys on a nl2 |
 |
|
So, before I freak out about getting a bum deal, does anyone have any suggestions for why I have notes on about the lowest 2 octaves, but nothing on the higher 2 except about 3 keys? Could this be a loose connector or something? _________________ Macbook 2.4 Unibody/Nord G2 Engine/9u of Euro Modules/Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1UW/NI Maschine/Novation Remote Zero SL MKII/ |

Are those three keys at the bottum of these two high octaves?
If so, you are using a KeyboardSplitt from D# and no sound in Slot C nor D.

No, it is definitely keys in the middle of the octave, and there is no keysplit on. It also occurs throughout any preset or performance. I've loaded each slot with the same preset, each one plays fine, full polyphony and everything, but every patch has the same dead keys. I should also mention that it works fine over midi. This is definitely a physical problem with the keybed I suppose... _________________ Macbook 2.4 Unibody/Nord G2 Engine/9u of Euro Modules/Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1UW/NI Maschine/Novation Remote Zero SL MKII/ |

So you want to open up the synth?
Take a look at http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/020_NordLead2/Red_Lady/Index_bestanden/Red_Lady/Weighted_part_2.htm.
On the first image you see the two flat cables (gray and blue) which you have to check. Open the connector and connect these again.
For opening the synth see a little lower in the article.
Maybe there is a loose connector in the keyboard itself. I never had to repair this. The keyboard is still availlable from Fatar.

Thanks for you help, but that link seems to be dead. I get a 404 message. _________________ Macbook 2.4 Unibody/Nord G2 Engine/9u of Euro Modules/Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1UW/NI Maschine/Novation Remote Zero SL MKII/ |

Thanks for your help! I opened it up and indeed one of the ribbon cables was not fully seated. All is well now.

That´s where I hide the dirty books...
Or my saving money...
Whatever...
Ever opened up a Nintendo? You´ll be surprized.
It's our hands which determines the measurements of the interface and therefore the complete synth

I'm thinking I could cut out a hole and slide either my mopho or machinedrum in there! _________________ Macbook 2.4 Unibody/Nord G2 Engine/9u of Euro Modules/Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1UW/NI Maschine/Novation Remote Zero SL MKII/ |

When cutting and drilling in the hood be sure you remove the panel board first: it could be damaged...
I have a Nord Modular Classic Rack mounted there, but it is on top.
Maybe it's better to use the top only without the cutting
And holes aren't nice when selling the synth.

I guess I was only half serious...
The thing is, I've always kept my keyboards on a rolling ikea cart that I push under my desk when not used, to minimize space. I don't think I have the clearance to have something else on top of the Nord. I may even need to get a different, wider cart for this anyway, since all the weight of the NL2 is to the left, I feels just slightly tipsy unless I move it off center to the right more... _________________ Macbook 2.4 Unibody/Nord G2 Engine/9u of Euro Modules/Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1UW/NI Maschine/Novation Remote Zero SL MKII/ |
