Hi,
I was planning to order parts for several projects either tonight or tomorrow. One of these projects is the MFOS 16-Step Sequencer.

Anyway, I was hoping to get some recommendations regarding what type of LED's I should order for this project. (I'd prefer to spend as little as possible on these.) I plan to order most of my parts from Mouser. The remainder I'll probably purchase from Jameco (or possibly Futurlec).

If you have ordered parts for this Sequencer from either of these places (and you are satisfied with what you bought), I'd appreciate it if you could provide the part number or at least the specs. Thanks alot.

David

i use these lumex leds. maybe they aren't the cheapest option but i think they look the slickest. i'm just about to start wiring mine now!

Thanks for the info. I was originally hoping to get buy with something a bit cheaper, but those are really nice LEDs. Maybe I'll rethink my strategy. Smile They look similar to some LEDs I've seen in some MOTM modules that I've seen built.

I noticed that the specs for these Luminex LED's are Vf=2V and If(max) = 30mA. Were they bright enough or did you have to decrease the value
of R30 on the digital board?

I made some calculations regarding the maximum forward current through each diode. , but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. According to my calculations (and provided that I made them correctly), if one was to use a 12V power supply, R30=3k, and a LED with Vf=2V, then the maximum forward current (If) flowing through each LED should be 3.33mA.

Thus, I was planning to use 10mA LEDs (If(max) = 10mA) for this project and I was even considering dropping R30 to 1.5K, which would double the current through each diode. (With R30 = 1.5K, 6.66mA should be the maximum current flowing through each 10mA LED.)
