*** 10th ALFA CENTAURI ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL

Intelligentsia is confirmed as another act for Alfa #10
The line up is now:

---> Dweller at the Threshold (USA)
---> Fragment of a Dream (from USA), featuring Paul Vnuk (MAJALE) and =
Giles Reaves (SPACECRAFT)
---> Free System Projekt (NL)
---> Intelligentsia (UK/JP)

Also we can now announce that during the whole festival day there will =
be a series of demo's by Music House the Netherlands. Not only will they =
present vintage and new (analog) synthesizers in a huge stage during the =
festival day, but also they will present demo's for new synth gear, new =
doepfer analog modular synths, DJ gear and a lot more.=20

Tickets are for sale since november 15, here is how to purchase your =
tickets:

From within the Netherlands or any other Euro country you can transfer =
the money to our Bank Account ABN AMRO 57.44.09.793 attn of Quantum =
Productions BV, please make sure to fill out your name and address and =
the number of tickets required and also don't forget to state 'Alfa =
Festival #10' on the transfer. For international payments you should use =
our IBAN number NL88ABNA0574409793, BIC code ABNANL2A.

If you don't want to pay through the bank accounts, you can pay with =
VISA creditcard. Please note that this way of payment will cost 2,5 % =
extra (i.e. we will debit your card for the total amount and add another =
2,5 % to cover part of the credit card transaction costs).
In that case we kindly ask you to provide us your VISA card details, =
creditcardnumber, expiry date, name/address of card owner and the 3 last =
digits of the number at the backside of your card (security code). You =
can provide us with these details per email or by phone or fax (+31) (0) =
35-5265635

And of course you can also send cash money (Euro's) to our address: =
Quantum Productions BV, attn of Alfa Centauri Festival, PO Box 1131, =
NL-1270 BC Huizen. Make sure to hide your payment in a tightly packed =
envelope.

Alfa Centauri members: Euro 23=20
Advanced booking: Euro 26
Box Office Euro 32

(please note that the special Alfa Centauri member discount price =
applies to the member's ticket only, all other tickets are the usual =
price, and the discount price is only for the advanced booking period, =
at the box office all tickets are the same price)

At this moment in time already 70% of available stalls has been sold, we =
are happy to let you know that a lot of old and new friends (CD labels, =
musicians etc.) have confirmed their presence at the festival.

In the forthcoming couple of weeks we will publish more info on the =
festival, at this moment we have uploaded some pictures of the festival =
venue and you can expect us to upload bio's and pics of the performing =
artists soon.

*** THE BIG EM DEBATE, March 13 2004.

Every one in the electronic music scene knows that times are-a-changing. =
Some of us say that electronic music is dying, some of us say it has =
never lived as it does today. There are so many issues, so many =
discussions. And each person you ask has a different opinion. What do =
you define as electronic music, is it berlin-school sequenced music, is =
it ambient/floating/cosmic music, does it include the new music genres =
such as electronika, trance, techno ? But there are more questions: does =
electronic music have a future ? Do we need more events? What should =
artists do to help EM, or what do we expect from record labels or =
retailers. Could EM live without a magazine or other type of information =
source ? Etc. Etc.
As you know, Quantum Productions wants to support and promote Electronic =
Music and therefore is develop new initiatives to do so (such as artist =
promotion, expanding the record label activities, creating new events), =
but we are very much interested to know how Artists look at this =
subject, and how our customers feel about what to do to keep EM =
interesting.

Therefore we are preparing a special even for EM artists, fans, =
retailers, record labels and more. During that event we will certainly =
have live electronic music, there will be drinks etc and our aim is to =
have a friendly meeting and try to involve as much as possible =
autorities to discuss the topics we've raised here.
So, if you are an artist, recordlabel, if you are an EM fan and you have =
a clear opinion about what should be done, or if you are an EM fan that =
wants to know what is happening, you are kindly invited to our event.

Please give us a call or a reply to this mail to let us know you are =
interested to join. We will then add you to our invitation list.

Admittance for the event will be free, of course.

*** NEW MAGAZINE !

We already informed you that we are working on a new magazine on =
Electronic Music. Especially now the KLEMblad will cease to exist after =
January 2004, we felt that we had to set up for something to keep the EM =
fans informed.
We are proud to let you know that the rough outline for this magazine =
and its distribution has been set up and decided amongst the main =
contributors. Here are some highlights:

* the magazine will a new format to the previously issued Alfa Centauri =
magazine
* in first instance, the magazine will be in the Dutch language !
* the magazine will be issued every 2 months and will be a moderately =
sized (30-60 pages) booklet
* to receive this magazine, readers should subscribe, i.e. pay to cover =
of production and distrbution costs, but you can be sure that the =
subscription fee will not higher than strictly necessary to cover these =
costs
* subscribers will be offered the opportunity to get reduction on =
tickets for our events (such as the festival, concert evenings and more) =
and as of may 2004 subscribers will also be offered special reduced =
price music items and more....
* people that were subscribed to the old Alfa Centauri magazine will be =
offered the chance to continue their subscription to this new magazine, =
as soon as details are know, we will inform these people individually
* if you were (are) a klem subscriber and you are interested to =
subscribe this new magazine, please let us know, maybe we can setup some =
discussions with frits of klem on how to do this
* the magazine will cover various subjects, such as plenty of CD-reviews =
(quite some prominent reviewers have confirmed their cooperation to the =
new magazine), concert reviews, a concert/event agenda, interviews with =
musicians, coverage of new magazines, weblinks, but also we will focus =
on musicians and we will offer topics such as new gear and a lot more. =
We are currently working on the the detailed contents of the magazine.
* The first issue of the magazine will be available somewhere in March =
2004 and the next issue will be a special introduction issue that will =
be distributed at the 10th alfa festival
* The magazine will go into new music directions: we will search for =
other musical styles and genres (releases and artists) that could be of =
interest to our readers
* The magazine will be accompanied by a biweekly electronic (e-mail) =
newsletter, containing the latest EM updates etc. (i.e. this newsletter)
* last but not least: we want to have your suggestions for this =
magazine, if you know about items that should be included let us know !

*** Cafe Sonore, november 17, 2003.

The next Cafe Sonore will take place on monday november 17 in Werkgebouw =
het Veem
van Diemenstraat 410 (take bus 48 & 49 from Amsterdam Central Station )
Doors open: 20.00 hours, start 20.30 hours, free admittance.
This time 'Vinyl' is the main topic and there will be interesting =
lectures and demo's.

contrasted soundworlds of late. The centerpiece of TEXTURE MAPS is a =
pivotal 20-minute piece recorded the same week as "Looking for Safety" =
from DREAMTIME RETURN. Titled "Grey and Purple", it's a genuine lost =
piece from 1987 that foreshadows Steve's sonic evolution as later =

It's unfortunate that I would be unable to attent the summit conference meeting. I would find it most interesting. YOU go, with a wireless cam and a laptop, and do a webcast for us. We can attend remotely. Thus is the way of our world.
