hey there !

i'd like to build one or several of the US1 vcos because they look pretty simple building-wise. the schematic is okay for me but one part seems to be hard to find so i'd like to know wether anybody knows a suitable substitution for it. the part i'm refering to is fet-transistor 2N3819. thanks !

The 2N3819 is quite a common part and usually can easilly be found. You may use a BF245B as a subtitute (although the pinout is different).

Just a warning considering this VCO, it is quite difficult to adjust the temperature compensation and the tracking is far from perfect (five octaves maximum). But it's OK for FX and drones.

oh, bad tracking is okay if not even perfect for me Very Happy. i plan to build a drone synth.....the reason i've chosen it is it's simple layout. i'm a beginner in building things from scatch so perfectly tunable vco's count less than ease of building.
