Mille Plateaux - Still Around? |
 |
|
Is Mille Plateaux (the record label) still in existence? After learning of them I've been researching some of their releases (especially the Clicks and Cuts compilation) but have been unable to connect to any of the web addresses I've found for them (including mille-plateaux.com, mille-plateaux.net, milleplateauxmedia.com, and force-inc.com).
Then, I went to the Amoeba Music on Hollywood, and the only Mille Plateaux CDs they had were Click-Hop v1.0 and Modulation and Transformation 3. They had a hole section devoted to the label but it was pretty baren.
Anybody know their status? Thanks! |

No unfortunately Mille Plateaux-one of the greatest elabels ever-is no longer around and neither are any of the sister labels (Force Inc., Forcetracks, Position Chrome.) While many labels survived the collapse of EFA they did not. There was no announcement, no crying... The websites were there one day and gone the next. If you are looking for old titles you will be able to find them for a song on German Ebay as Achim Wollscheid himself is liquidating the stock for whatever he can get. At least as far as I know he still is. _________________ Future Funk. Saturday Night/Sunday Morning 0000-0200. CKUA Radio Network. 94.9 FM, 580 AM, www.ckua.com.

I heard there were some realy weird issues, don´t know what´s true so let´s not get into those, but I also hear (much more positively) that they are restarting as something along the lines on "mile plateaux media" or something therabout. _________________ Kassen |

I have a fair number of releases from the various sublabels.
It's confusing... the collapse of EFA dragged a lot of good labels down with it... Force Inc/etc. is still somewhat around (at least as of January 2005...)
Explanation of the January 2005 buyout:

New site (note the milleplateauxmedia.com references all over it) - if you click the little "next" you'll see some releases and news:
