NYE concert signup time!

This event will be on electro-music radio on Sunday December 31st, 2023.
It will start somewhere around 15:00 GMT and end whenever it is over depending on the number of participants.

The schedule can be found in the wiki and threads to previous events can be found here.

As always, if you are interested in performing, please copy/paste this Sign-Up template and post in this thread:

Please review the Electro Music Copyright Policy

Please note: "Preferred Start Time". We will do the best that we can to accommodate people to their requested times. However, please be flexible because this event will have European and American musicians in many different time zones. Time slots will be on a semi-"first come-first served" basis. Furthermore, please post your time in GMT. The handy clock should make it simple. However, we do use military/24 hour time. It will undoubtedly be an international event and GMT is the only way to coordinate such events.

As in the past, the chat room will serve as an invaluable communication tool for set up, streaming, and connecting to those listening....and it's just a lot of silly fun! I suggest participants get familiar with it in advance, if you aren't already.

If you want a recording of your set, it would be prudent to record your own set, rather than depend on others. Accidents and mistakes happen...especially in this format. There are many ways to record your set, either thru the stream app or record your stream from your mixer on the signal path to the computer.

Performers MUST stream at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz , stereo.

It is IMPERATIVE that everyone test their connections before we start streaming. At least 24 hours before but sooner is preferred. Sorry, but we can not guarantee that musicians will be allowed to stream if you do not test 24 hours before hand. Not only does it delay the schedule, but causes unneeded stress on performer, server operator, and audience during performance time. Join the chat room for testing and help setting up.

A few years ago I did a streaming concert that included my Klee Sequencer, Octatrack Sequencer, and CGS Infinite Melody/Diatonic converter to create a clocked, contrapuntal, minimalist texture.

The patching was a bit intricate and have not felt that I've had sufficient time to do this again. Since then, I have overcome some technical issues with my clocking/looping equipment and feel confident that I can manage such a set again.

Also, I have started to explore the Wren modular soft-synth and plan to incorporate it into the setup. Wren has a rich set of sequencers and other modules and features excellent MIDI, clock, and audio integration.

Thus, this performance is an opportunity to stretch my technical skills while attempting to offer a musical result that is pleasing and fun.

My contribution is called 'Coventry electronic litany' and uses the text of the Coventry litany of reconciliation

Growing up in Berlin, I saw the cross-of-nails - which is made from two roof nails from the Coventry Cathedral - in the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Memorial Church. The pedestal cites the text of the litany in German.

The litany is read by a text-to-speech software, which was then treated with different VST effects.
This is a reflection on the current trend to use technology in areas, which it is not really suited for and which would not make sense without a human listener.

The music was improvised live on a - for the most part - pre-patched Make Noise Shared System.
My approach to patching is that I have my musical ideas, which together with the restrictions of the modular synthesizer - in combination with my limited experience in patching - result in something at the interface of humanness and technology: An experiment in electronic sound.

I hope you enjoy the piece as much as I did making it.
