new to the midi thing Subject description: help is my subject |

Hi all,
As of recently I have purchased a Nord Lead 2X synth, then I purchased Reason 4 with the hope of instantaneous compatibility and use on my Mac Book Pro OS X. If that had been the case then I would not be posting this.
Needless to say I am very new to this- that aside can anyone give me advice on how to get the ball rolling.

This is a late call
Alors, les nuits de Paris
After paying the bill you realized Reason doesn't do Midi Out, so it won't run the NordLead2X too... These are two different instruments. My advise is to ask yourself first what you want to do, ask in the shop what's possible and then buy. Anyway, we all have bought things from which we thought it would be very useful in the set up!
Reason is a high standard musical instrument, which can give you much joy. It's a complete different way to make music.
And the NordLead's and Reason have much in common too, like both made in Sweden, Stockholm to be precise and even more...
The guys who are running Propellerhead also designed the original Nordlead, which you bought, although with a few minor changes
Anyway, you can always sell one of the two second hand.
Could this be a little comfort to you?

Nord lead midi reason problems Subject description: see above |

OK,D'accord. Fuck!
I dont want to sell either. I think both are amazing and at least reason will get better when I can properly use it and the NL I can use live.
I guess my ? is do I need just a regular midi clav with a usb cable instead of midi ports? Or am I missing the whole point. |

insomniac,
BTW thanks for the help.
I have an interface, nothing special- Prodipe. You're not talking about a soundcard right cus I do not have an fancy soundcard just what came with the mac- If I understand correctly
as far as the specifications om my mac are concerned. Its a little over a year old an I believe it has all those specification though Im not positive since my wife has filed away all the paper work into the rainman-esq vortex that is her filing system.
I wish there was a way around this since I dropped good and much worked for money on this. |

If you are not satisfied with it, do some good research on a new one! Quote: | as far as the specifications om my mac are concerned. Just the main reason to visit shops regularly, talking to other musicians and plough your way through the Internet! As we Dutch say: "You can spend money only once!" (To which I always add: "So spend it on me!!!" )
Anyway, I understand the insomniac...

Go to [Synth] and scroll to [Program Receive] [BANK: 1 (or another) > Erase]. After doing this send the Midi to the synth. Screen will read [Waiting for dump]

Most of it is already in the archive http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/030_NordLead3/031_Patches/Programs/
But...
There is a way to get Patches rather easy
http://synth.jonmerel.com/
and there happens to be a Mac version too
http://blog.atombang.com/?p=72
Mostly these parameters don't give any nice sound at all, but you'll learn to tweak the knobs and so you'll explore your synth more and more. It's like a child learning to speak.

On Page 13, Selecting Programs NordLead 3 Manual wrote: | To switch between Banks, press the UP/DOWN NAVIGATOR buttons. The Bank is indicated by the leftmost digit and the Program by the rightmost digit in the DISPLAY. | If there aren't any other banks to select between, they are empty! Just fill these

Quick question: I've been given the impression that an M-Audio Fast Track Pro may be the solution to my problems as well as a helpful device for eventual live instrument recording. Any thoughts. K |

Thank you Wout! Subject description: Finally found the .midi files for the 2x factory presets |

I had to create an account to just thank you Wout, for rescuing all these original presets for the lead 2x.
Clavia doesn't have them available anymore. So here I am, 2024, being super grateful for this. They are gold.
Did Keyboard Cowboy shared the ROM banks as well eventually? (I'm guessing 4 to 9?)
Thank you. I have to check your presets now! |
