drum synth |

hi!
I am working on a synth diy project whose aim is to create an analog drum synthesizer with digital step sequencer control. The design and building of the project was documented in a blog (someone else on that forum already found it, see here
) now i'm just wondering what you think about and if someone is interested in re-building it |

I can't see any schematics on his blog. Without those it's pretty hard to recreate. Last edited by widdly on Thu Aug 05, 2010 10:04 pm; edited 1 time in total |

StoneRose,
the blog link you posted gave me a "page not found" as you typed it as a relative URL. I changed it by prefixing with http:// to make it absolute, guessing that's what you meant to do _________________ Jan
also .. could someone please turn down the thermostat a bit.

| I'm interested in building a drum synth and haven't found the right circuits yet-- so I'd be interested in more infio also. |

Hi:
I´m a little bit obsessed with synthetic drums, I builded a TR-9090, I´m
building a TR-808 clone, and I have plans for build a lot of modules, and
at some point a drum sequencer.
I followed the development of your drumsynth with a lot of interest, and
at some point, when I finish something of what I´m already building,
I will love to build some (may be all) of your modules, or the sequencer.
The drumsynth sounds really nice by the way, congratulations.
Thank you. _________________ Sebo

thank a lot for your interest and replies.. i'm currently transferring some content of the blog onto a 'real' website, the schematics will certainly be downloadable from my new site at the latest in two days
Other question: is the some info available on the net on building a tr-808 or 909 clone? after extensive searching i found some schematics of the tr-808 (which served as an inspirational source for my project)
what do you think about doing the drum synth in a modular way, this means building/soldering the individual modules separately and connecting them to the sequencer in a later stage? this would allow to exchange and vary some sound modules? For the prototype i hard-wired the sound modules to the sequencer part but it's definitely possible to connect them in a modular kind of way |

Don't mention her...
Things are not very good, but not worse than some time ago...
To StoneRose:
TR-909 Clones
http://introspectiv.org/ (I builded one of this, sounds great)
http://www.analog-synth.de/synths/tr909/tr909.htm (Only BD, some
people have trouble with this one)
http://www.msc175.de/module.htm (Modular 909, in German)
http://www.bionicdimension.de/_drummachine-909-bassdrum.html (Only BD)
TR-808
http://xlargex.xl.funpic.de/ (Great site, I'm building one of this)
http://www.eight-oh-eight.org/ (Limited batch of kits)
http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_808.html (TR like sequencer)
If you like digital, a LinnDrum kind of clone (not all the info uploaded yet):
http://www.aqwi49.dsl.pipex.com/Index.htm
Also I have a DR-110, I moded a bit, but I was planning to do a clone and
full mod it. For doing that I scanned the original PCB, cleaned a bit, and
I think is very useable, didn't etched yet. If you want it I could upload it. _________________ Sebo

Thanks stonerose, looks like you have done a lot of work on this.
I'll definitely build some of your drum designs. I've built bits the 808 kick and snare circuits and some twin-t toms so I need some cymbals. You hi-hat sounds great a looks interesting. |
