This isn't a new discovery, but I don't remember seeing this info posted previously. If so, admins, please feel free to delete.

When I was away from my G2 I had started to rename the extension for patches I had downloaded to .PCHD, then associated this with the Demo editor, so I could see/hear this patch without having a G2 connected.

Later, when I would search for certain patches using filename*.pch2, the patch wasn't found because I had changed the extension (and forgotten about it).

So I've come up with a better idea that allows you to easily choose between the G2 Editor or the Demo editor, without renaming the extensions.

1. Create a shortcut to your SendTo directory.
2. Put that shortcut in the SendTo directory. Now, when you right click, you'll have a shortcut always pointing to your SendTo directory. You can even create shortcuts to networked machines, which makes for a 1-click network backup.

3. Create a shortcut for the G2 Editor, right click on it, and send it to the SendTo directory shortcut.

4.Create a shortcut for the Demo Editor, right click on it, and send it to the SendTo directory shortcut.

Now, when you want to open a patch in the Demo Editor, just right click on it and select the Demo Editor shortcut.

Likewise for the G2 Editor.

This should work for All Windows apps, but I've found a few that don't.

Nothing new, just a convenience.

Hey cappy,

that's a good one. Thanks for the tip.
