welcome Sermax...

You have to install the USB driver for the G2. It should be on the CD that comes witht the synth. You can also download the driver from the clavia web site. http://www.clavia.com/g2/software.htm

I tried several times but windows tells that isn't possible to find the usb drivers from the cd.
I tried also with the 2 files downloaded from the clavia site.
Nothing changes

Are you running Windows XP Service Pack 2 by any chance? I have had a very similar problem with a Scandisc Memory Stick and Compact Flash card reader.

I think that instead of letting windows find the driver on the CD, you have to give it the specific location.

I report this in an attempt to help. I was finally able to get my Windows USB problem solved by plugging my storage device into another USB port. Then XP found the device and installed it without a problem.

I've heard that some people are buying a dedicated USB PCI card just for the G2. This is probably a sensible thing to do as sharing USB sometimes doesn't seem to work. I've seen this a lot with USB mice.

There remains the possiblity, it seems to me, that you could have a defective USB port on your computer, or the G2 itself isn't working.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried the USB Driver from the CD as well as from the website. Occasionally the PC will connect to the G2 and the G2 will state that its ready for the OS upgrade. Then as soon as I try to upgrade the OS, the window closes and the G2 screen freezes with "recv OS 1.24". The PC now states that it can't identify the connected USB device.

Just a note: If windows fails to recognize a device that is plugged in..(ie- it reports tthat the device is "unknown") it will *never* be able to connect the driver to the device. Even if you tell it what drivers to use, windows tries to do a comparison of the driver to the device, and will decide that "G2 USB driver" doesn't equal "unknown device", and so you're shit out of luck. I have never been able to "force" windows into using a driver for an unknown device. And my laptop has given me several unknown devices. It means there was a USB problem, not necessarily a device failure, and you should refer to the other thread that several people (including myself) have described our own solutions.

So, basically, you have to try to do something to improve the USB connection betwen the PC and the G2.

Thanks to all,but I'm afraid that my G2 USB port has some problems, because I tried to connect it to a new laptop(toshiba satellite 30)
and the problem is always the same.
But it is only a supposition
