It takes forever and then some... |
 |
|
Seems like we are back to that same old "long wait before the post is posted" situ.. and as always the post actually gets posted asap.. but the browser keep hanging in there like forever..
several people have been triple or quadruple posting here the last few days and this is probably because they try to post again because it seems like the first post got stuck.
Howard did solve this way back, but what was really the problem? Has a forum upgrade killed the fix? I know I had upgrades that turned out to be sideways downgrades when i was messing about with phpnuke.

Shit, you guys are right. I was hoping it was something wrong with my local brower. I've be busy travelling and installing new software, Sonar 4 for one, and trying to fix my audio drivers on my main music PC. (Turns out after hours of work there was nothing wrong with the drivers in the first place, just a mess up configuration parameter in Micorsoft's Media Player.)
OK, I'll try to refix it. Thanks for the heads up... _________________ --Howard

Well, here's hoping I just fixed it, but I won't know till I post this post. I changed the sessions table from one that is stored on disk to one that's kept in memory. _________________ --Howard

Hmmm... It seems to have worked for that post, but of course it hosed the session table and everyone lost their orange flags... _________________ --Howard

btw,
posting seems lightning fast at the moment (and last 2 days). Don't know whether you changed anything.
My number one gripe with phpBB is that it doesn't keep any logs (at least, my version didn't)

Yes, I found a pretty nasty problem that wasn't at all obvious. It turns out to have been a firewall configuration problem that was caused by our server's IP address being changed. I thought that by going to a hosted server, I'd be free of these problems. Turns out that we were more reliable when I was running my own hardware. _________________ --Howard

Is the slow-posting problem back in action?
Only posted once today, but it took forever.

[edit: make that two very slow times, and prolly a third (this edit)]
[edit2: the edit was quick...] _________________ :wq |

Thanks for the heads up. I notice when it gets slow, there is a change in the status codes of the httpd server. I'm not sure exactly what it was. I can clear things up by restarting the http server. It says ok for several days, most of the time. _________________ --Howard
