Latest Gen Oscilloscopes WITHOUT Trial Software |
 |
|
I was about to pull the trigger on a Rigol scope, but then I read about how the unit is loaded with trial software and you have to pay quite large fees to unlock features of the device after the trial. The trial starts the moment you turn on the device. F that noise.
Are there any newest-gen scopes that don't do this? I was eyeing a Siglent, but I can't tell if they do this too. Basically, I want all of the features of the device itself to be usable. I don't care about outboard computer software, but the device needs to be usable all the time to me. Not really interested in older scopes. I have an analog scope and a few older digital, so I'm in the market for the latest gen scopes. |

Ah a new dirty trick .. there used to be the opt-in extensions on older scopes already (like protocol analysis, for which the software is already present - but it needs a key) .. which I thought to suck.. but this is just .. oh well
Anyway .. not searching for a scope right now .. but might one day .. so when you (or others) find something I'd be glad to read about it. _________________ Jan
also .. could someone please turn down the thermostat a bit.

I've got a Rigol DS1052E, and I've never seen any trial software, or even a hint of some. |

Doesn't someone in the market for the latest generation 'scope - buy the best Tek/Keysight/Rohde/LeCroy etc they can get/justify and will then offset the purchase against tax through their business?
Further when the subsequent generation arrives a few years later, the 'scope gets offloaded.Wash and repeat.
This is a fiscal situation and the hobbyist is the only fool paying full price.
