A federal appeals court yesterday backed the president's power to indefinitely detain a U.S. citizen captured on U.S. soil without any criminal charges, holding that such authority is vital during wartime to protect the nation from terrorist attacks.

RIP Freedom of Speech for the United Kingdom too. It's those damn fucking neo-conservatives again. Will they ever learn? Nope. They are too comfortable being protected by their own paranoid laws.

In theory you should be able to get work permits over here. Until you guys get something sorted out you can use my guest room. I guess I have some friends who have a spare room or a couch or something. Get your asses out of there before it is too late.

There are lots of stories on the news about people just disappearing in this country. FOX so-called News network loves these stories. They are obsessed with them in fact. The general assumption is that if not found soon these missing people are the victums of an unspeakable and unspecified criminal acts. FOX is seems is most interested in missing young girls and children. The best stories have suspects with foreign-sounding, best if Arabic, names. I wonder why nobody ever considers if some of the missing were taken by the govenment in order to protect the national security. What if the summer camp they attended is known to be a terrorist training camp?

Gees thanks! But I think any real danger to white middle class folks is something that will develop over the long term. At my age I’m counting on being dead before it is a threat to me and my family.
However, if I was, or could be mistaken for, a Mideasterner I'd be getting a little nervous about now.
Really, our country is at a tipping point, and it’s hard to say which way we will go. Though thanks to being led into bankruptcy by tax-cut-and-spend Republicans it will certainly be downward in any case.
