There is no crap stuff, they are patches that people spent their good time on.

.. and of course, one man's crap is another's treasure, especially when it comes to synth patches. That's why there's really no point, in my far-from-humble opinion, in downloading 27000 patches and trying to make sense of them; it's better to learn to program on your own, so you use the instrument as a means of expression.

If you still wish to pay, we could use some help keeping the site running. Anything you could spare would be appreciated. On the electro-music.com front page you can click on the little Donate box on the right side of the page.

thanks

All patches has been in my synth. They all work, although you can say you like some better then others. That you have to sort out yourself Smile
So, you'll have things to do: just about 27 000 patches, and some 4 000 to come soon (When there will be an update)

Those vocal patches that Kees did are an excellent example of what the NM can do. It might take a newbie a year or more of patching before realizing that even that crude form of vocalization is possible, especially now since so little development and exploration is being done with the NM1 like there was 5 years ago. The 404 list was full of patches almost daily. Man do I miss that.
There are many ideas still hiding in those 27000 patches, just waiting for someone to discover.

I still want to make a list (Using URL's to the Archive) of the most remarkable Patches, like the IcoClock, PingPong and WindUpToy. What about Chet's PumpOrgan...

I still enjoy going back to the list archives and trawling them for patches. It helps to know the context in which a patch was made, and what "problem" it is intended to solve. For the basic (minimoog/solina, DX7 Marimba) patches, that is not an issue, but there are a great many patches where the point of the patch is not made explicit without some discussion. Maybe if we could start that discussion ...

A question to those of us who still use the NM1. What are your favorite "other peoples" patches in your NM1 and what do you use them for?

Jerry

Kofi Busia, once a heavy NM1 user, wants to make such a data base, but there seems to be some mis-communication between E-M dot com and him.
Anyway, there are also a lot of these discussions in the archive, under the Header 'Interesting Threads'.

Just take a look at the events sequencers in the top right of the patch.
