Many locations of Tower Records have closed.
I don't know the exact reason, but I would not be surprised if they just can't compete with online services. I haven't been to a Tower in a long time, and I've just ordered 2 more CD's online.

That might void the warranty. I guess it depends on what you were eating, the velocity and the trajectory;-)

I left that one out. I remember I didn´t like it much. I´m not too fond of Vienna, but Rage in Eden was a positive surprise. Some of the bonus material - basically live recordings - on the Foxx era CDs is really great. In some cases the the live versions are far better than the studio versions. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

A friend gave me some John Foxx stuff to listen to (Fad Gadget-?), but I didn't get into that particular album. I probably need to hear a wider variety of his works. Just like with TD: so many albums, there's bound to be one for everyone |

I never bought any of the Foxx solo material back then. I guess I´ll have to check it out some day. Now I´m mostly buying the same stuff I once had on LP.
I think the full VDGG catalogue is available as PH branded remasters now, so I guess I´ll have to pick up the lot. I did buy most of the early CD issues, but ... you know.. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

You are familiar with the Foxx era Ultravox stuff though? In some weird way his has captured the whole mid/late 70s/early 80s urban youth thingie. The lyrics and the delivery - all brilliant. In great bursts of way out weirdness the music is mostly late 70s garage band prog.
Oh shit... I bet there are Roxy Music remasters out now. I gotta get the lot. I kinda fell out of the groove after Stranded, but I got back in when they released Siren. Avalon however is more like a Bryan fFrry solo album, still good though but nothing like good old Roxy Music.
Hey.. I forgot... today I got 801 Live ! Great stuff! Too bad they didn´t throw in the full live set as bonus material. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Well, not really. I had only heard Ultravox tracks on the radio during the 80's but I never followed the lineup. While I was on an electronic music mailing list, and someone had posted comments on a bunch of Ultravox albums, so I bought a few. Vienna was one, Lament, and one with their greatest hits (I think). I had not heard any of these songs before. Since then I bought another CD which is a collection of extended songs form earlier albums. I think this is a bootleg CD though. I don't listen to them much now.
Actually, I've really cut down on buying CD's for several reasons. Space is one, and most new CDs have the very thin jewel case, where you can't read the album name or artist. So I've started buying music in downloadable form. The downside to this is th esoteric stuff often isn't available in downloadable form yet (and probably never will be). |

This weekend I bought:
Robert Wyatt: Comicopera
Super Furry Animal: Hey Venus!
Warren Zevon: Genious
Good buys all three!
I just downloaded Radiohead's new album In Rainbows - going to listen to it tomorrow at work.

Did you get the Ohm set with the DVD or no DVD? The dvd has some fun stuff on it. Can't really recall the cd set at the moment. We have it at my radio station so i just bought the dvd by itself. |
