1st post 'cause I ordered 2.
If there are any left this next Friday...I might order 2 more.
Now I've just got to get busy and put together my DIY kit. Need a real soldering station and DMM... ...what have I done? I started trying all this with PAIA stuff back in the late 80s but I didn't have the internet as it is now at my disposal, with all you small suppliers and kind helpers to back me up. And the ability to design and have built special front panels that are professional quality is a godsend.
Cheers! |

if you wanted an optical indication of whats going on inside the vactrols, why don't you add the LED in parallel with a resistor to GND? i did it this way for the PS3100 resonators.
if you added it in series you would have a voltage drop of approx 0.3V, however i don't think you would have to lower R6, because you have trimmer TP1 upfront anyways to compensate the voltage drop (i think). _________________

I just finished the first of my two dual LPG units about an hour ago. Here's a crappy shaky-cam photo of it installed in the Big Feller:
and a couple of minutes of the first noodle:
http://www.olscratchrecordings.com/Sounds/LPG.mp3
That's two Synthesizers.com oscillators, one through the fast side and one through the slow. The LPG is being modulated by the STG Time Modules. Bit of Echoplex on the end. You can hear how awesome the resonance on this thing sounds. Really squelchy and biting. |

Thanks Thomas... though really, it's just a variation on the panel in the PDF. I simply spaced it out a little to better fill the DotCom panel. I'll try to take a hi-res pic soon, though I am a lousy photographer (and the printing is a little screwy on the top section). I tweaked the design a little and I think I am going to print another in a week or so. If so, I'll take a pic of that one and send it over. I'm having great fun with this module. Thanks to you for your hard work! |

An auspicious beginning! My 2 boards arrived safely today at the same time as my brand new Weller soldering station and X-Acto Helping Hands!
I feel lucky to have gotten in just before they ran out again. Thanks bunches, Thomas! |

Thanks Thomas - got the boards this morning.
Nearly didn't though, because some monkey at Customs had completely opened the papckage, presumably to check it contained what it said on the label, and then just tossed it on the mailing delivery pile without re-sealing it
Fortunately, both boards were still in it when it arrived........
Thanks again for doing this project, and for the 3rd run. Looking forward to building it this christmas time.
cheers,

Actually building them's going to take a while for me as I'm still setting up my DIY gear...oscilloscope's on the way, still need a good DMM and have to get most of the parts for theses...
BUT, I'll be putting 2PCB on one panel, probably a full 19" wide and 2U panel high. They'll be arranged identically, but one half will be a mirror of the other (i.e., knobs on the left and right with all the jacks in the middle). I'll be doing multiple audio and CV on both, and using BOTH slow and a fast Vactrols on each with a 3PDT switch to select between them. So each will have Normal/Deep, Amp/Both/Filter and Slow/Fast switches, 7 or 8 attenuators, and a bunch of jacks in the middle. |

2 of my boards are stuffed except for the vactrols.
I'd like to be able to switch between two different vactrols to get a different response, but I'm not sure the best way to do that with what I've got.
The switch is yer standard dpdt on-on toggle, but here's the thing, (for one board) I've got a VTL5C3/2, and 2 VTL5C2's.
I'd prefer to just connect the positive leads of the LED to the switch, but it seems like I'd have issues with the resistors running in parallel.
Assuming I need to switch the cell leads, do I couple the LED leads (respectively), and one of the cell leads of the VTL5C2's. Then I'd have 5 leads and then connect it like a dual?
Would it work to connect the positive LED lead and the center cell lead to each side of the switch?
Do I need a 3pdt toggle to do this the right way?
Thanks,

Hello,
It would appear demand has grown large enough for another small run of Resonant Lopass Gate PCBs. There are many examples of these in action on the web and more information at http://www.naturalrhythmmusic.com/lopass.html. I will be taking orders from today until March 31st. Here's how it will work with ordering.
Due to having a baby on the way I will be producing these boards to order, no extras this time around. If you want boards, PayPal me $15 per board to:
djthomaswhite@yahoo.com
Your payment subject should read "LPG Order"
Shipping to the world is included in the price of the order. I will place the board order on April 1st (no joke) and the turn around time for shipping should be 2-3 weeks, but usually closer to 2. Once I receive the boards I will pack them for shipping and notify you when they ship via USPS First Class Mail. Contact me privately with any questions. These boards work with any popular power from +/-12v to +/-15v, however, the power connector on them is for MOTM or Synthesizers.com. Other connections (like Euro) require hand wiring the power instead of using a MTA connector.
Thanks folks!,
Thomas White

Great... it's finally time to squeeze this in.
I can't see the PCB size mentioned on the webpage or in the documentation, do you have it?
I'm also wondering if your documentation packet rlpgrev3point0documentpacket.zip is the same as the resonant_lpg_rev_30_document_packet_171.zip that I downloaded over a year ago. |
