Fellow Builders,

I have a disassembled ARP 2600 in my basement. I didn’t disassemble it, and really can’t figure out why anyone would--I inherited it from an electronic music studio (Soundwork) that I helped run in the 1990s.

The boards are clean, I don’t see any sign of broken jacks (a perennial problem for the 2600), nor do I see any missing pieces. Even the power supply seems to work. It has no cabinet--just the front panel, and no keyboard, but, other than that, everything is there, including the reverb springs and speakers.

I’d love to take on the task of reassembling it, and have planned to do it for years. But I’ve just gone through a particularly nasty divorce trial and need some cash (I’d say I won, but it’s still expensive). In addition, I’m not that wild about the machine--I’m more of a Buchla/Serge/microcontroller kind of guy. So I’m thinking of selling it, as is, on eBay.

My question: what do you think it’s worth?

My second question: How much more would it be worth if I took the time to reassemble it?

Thanks,

Ole

depends on which model, i think- V1,2,3? also, people who buy these are generally collectors-of course their will be demand for one w/ no cab and no kybd, but i think that in its current condition, i dont know if it would fetch close to what a working, original unit would. i would GUESS in the 1000-1500 range, but i could be off on that.
