I need to find some very small backed pots and I've seen these particular ones on Thomas Whites "Natural Rhythm" site and elsewhere. Pictured here:

Just wondering what kind/where to find them; Also, if they're smaller than the little Alpha pots Futurlec sells (what I already have)?

Aren't they Bourns 90 series?

Yeah, those are the Bourns 91A series. Very loose feeling compared to Spectrol/Vishay, but they don'e get any looser with use like Vishay/Spectrol. Now they are actually cheaper than the Spectrol 248/148 series. Allied Elec has them I think. I have found them on eBay before too.

Bourns series 90 (used in MOTM) is not very small (16*18mm)
compared to for example Bourns series 50 (13*13mm).
I'm planning to use the wonderfully dampened metal-shafted 50 instead of the way too loose plastic 90.
Here is a picture of a 51 and a 91, both with MOTM-sized knobs (PKES90):

FYI, last time I tried to actually buy some of those small Bourns pots nobody had stock or would sell in small quantities. If you find a good source please let us know.

Yes, this smaller Bournes 50 is exactly what I need-- thank you very much for pointing it out. Very nice.

I figured these-- pictured Bournes pots above-- were a common species. I've seen them in many peoples' projects-- but I've just never looked further than the $0.50 small Alphas offered by Futurlec. But now I need something even smaller.

I wonder, if the Bournes 50 is indeed unavailable, if there is a Spectral pot, for instance, with similar specs, size, etc.

Incidentally, here's a link to the Bournes product page, with all their panel control pots (you may have to cut and paste it):

However, I'm having a little trouble finding either the 51/53 or 90 series at Mouser or Allied.

True, they are not easy to find, especially in small quantities. But they are almost too expensive in small quantities anyway. Smile
Digi-Key and Farnell seem to stock some models in single quantities though (on this side of the Atlantic pond), and Mouser.
