We were down almost 18 hours!!! |

I apologize to everyone. We were down for almost 18 hours. We just came up about 2 minutes ago. There was a failure on the server we lease at globalservers.com. I'm really taking them to task for this serious outage and we are looking at alternative hosting arrangements. We have been moved to a new more powerfull server. Hopefully we will see better performance.
Again, I aplogize, and thanks for your understanding....

Anyway, it was a terrible 18 hours. Even more so because you know nothing new will be posted when it comes back up... so the perceived downtime is at least double, haha.

I managed to get some PM's and some minor post readings in... it went all fuzzy after that for at least 15 minutes... it was prolly me, refreshing and trying to get new pages in 3 browsers at once... I deeply apologize.

No matter what you did should have caused the server to go down.. unless you served those caifornia tech guys a bag full of sinsemilla gold...

When it went down I had just written the text of my original version of the "calculator" post and was halfway through adding poll options. Kinda anoying but I do think posting is faster now which imho is worth it in the long run.
Managing websites is a lot like engineering live venues; nobody notices you untill it all comes down.... Mosc and co are doing a great job, I think.

This is the 4th time I have restarted the server today. It seems that the server is stalling every 2 hours or so.

Yes, there was some "server maintenance" being done and they hosed up a bunch of stuff. I was looked out too - couldn't even access the databases. I called up and they got things going pretty quickly. Seems to be flowing again. Sorry about that.
