Nord Modular G3 |

I know the world is going elsewhere, but this is what I would really love to put my hands on.
Nord Modular G3
HARDWARE
1) DSP(s) capable of 32(64?)bit 96(192?)KHz both for audio and control lines.
2) The unit should be fully operational even in a stand alone mode.
3) Three lines LCD (or better) display on the front panel.
4) Start/Stop phisycal button (it would nicely relpace lcd display switch)
5) Additional Optical/Digital Input/Output
6) Bullet proof USB chip (it should have been an easy task to protect chip from power spikes in the beginning)
SOFTWARE
1) Init/rename/save patch/perf, add/delete module, connect/disconnect ModuleXOUT#->ModuleYIN#
2) Memory and processing power info on the front panel
3) A VU Meter module with peak view.
4) PCReceive MIDI module
5) Open Source Editor (with de-brick protection system)
I'd be glad to pay a consistent amount of money for such a beast. |

Well, as you said, it's probably never going to happen, but that doesn't mean we can't share our ideas.
I agree with most of your suggestions but a couple are, I feel, counter-productive.. I won't dwell on those. Here are things I would like to see (oh this list could be long...). I am intentionally avoiding the "more X" requests here, as that is potentially endless.
Improved MIDI handling
- Ability to filter MIDI output per slot: disable all, aftertouch, PB, etc.
- proper handling of PB and aftertouch in MIDI zones
- input and output modules for aftertouch and PB
- Poly aftertouch input module at the very least; possibly poly aftertouch on keyboard as well
Sample processing
- A sample playback module that plays a file (stored with patch), with dynamic control of direction, speed, stretch, and loop points.
- A similar module optimized for live capture.
- A generalized audio buffer module, with dynamic control of read/write locations, to simplify the creation of advanced audio processors.
Editor
- Ability to store and retrieve macros (sub-patches). Ideally there would be a way to roll these up into something resembling a new module, with only relevant controls and connections exposed.
- Better debugging tools: waveform display, MIDI display, level meters, control trace, etc.
- Better than 7-bit control over initial settings; use Shift key/Shift button to edit in higher resolution
- Ability to lock modules across variations, so editing the module in one variation changes the setting in all variations
- Ability to link identical modules, so that changing a setting in one changes that setting in linked modules (for example, frequency in a pair of one-band EQs)
Modules
- 24 bit DAC and ADC (for multiplexing over buses)
- Simple sum/diff module (common in many advanced applications)
- Equal/not equal detector
- Fixed filter bank
- Stereo versions of many modules: EQs, panners, etc.
- A meta-sequencer for building song structures
- A simple "button/knob" module with independent outs for the knob and button (for optimal use with panel controls)
- Dedicated chaos modules (chua oscillators, sloths, logistic equation, etc.)
- More filter types, more oscillator types.. ok I said I wouldn't do that.
Hardware
- Dedicated start/stop button and footswitch input
- CV interfacing, either through dedicated CV jacks or through DC-coupled audio jacks (and more of those in that case)
- Digital i/o
- Dedicated LEDs addressable through modules, for displaying levels, logic, whatever.
- Poly aftertouch
