This sounds just like SAM running on an Atari 400/800.
I don't know if SAM was ported to other platforms as well, probably !
I think I still have my old Atari 400 and a copy of SAM somewhere.
This takes me back. |

models&modules, the Commodore 64 was a personal microcomputer from the 80's, not a synthesizer.
Maybe peterw is right, I'm not sure where the sound comes but definitely sounds like an old microcomputer voice synthesizer to me. _________________ Cheers,

It sounds clearer with the reverb added on the last sentence. If it were not so late in the evening I would be tempted to dig out the old Atari and fire SAM up. |

It sounds just like an old 'Speak and Spell' toy that used to be around 25-30 years ago... a well used piece of kit in the 90's. It would probably be near impossible to get one now though. _________________

The mac, even old Motorola 040 units, can run speech synthesis. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I think it might be a Amiga. That exact voice is all over classic Gabber records and those were often Amiga.
Anyway, that SAM thing (I'm not positive it's the same based on those recordings) linked to above talks about DOS or Atari's. For DOS any box that can run windows will do but for "authenticity" it might be better to get a old soundcard, I think that era had the Sound Blaster PRO? For a Atari the 1040ST is a decent choice that could be bought online. That's a all-round excelent computer to have around since it has midi timing tighter then anything (it beats even many modern hardware sequencers for tightness)
Next up would be a Basic interperter but those are easy to find online.
You might also want to post in the lo-fi section here or even on micromusic.net there's a whole scene around computers from that era to make music and those people will know the exact details.
It's most defiately NOT a speak&spell because that one only has a limited set of words (not these) and it sounds different. Those can still be found, BTW, I got lucky in a US thrift store and paid 5 bucks
A while ago, somebody made a new chip based on this phenome idea aimed at modern hobyists that build robots. Those are readily available (at places where you can buy chips!) but need to have board designed around them which might be a bit much.... _________________ Kassen |

Yes, I had a lot of fun with SAM (the only version that I've known about until now) on the C64 way back.

hELLO there,
thank u very much at first for the interest and the usefull informations..
I think that Afro88 is getting closer to what i m looking for...
Afro88,the sample that u upload sounds the same even if its a little bit higher in the pitch.I think that probably there are some knobs to edit the sound.which program is that?its coming together with Commodore 64 as a standart software?if i buy the commodore64 ONLY,i will have that vocal?is the right unit so,but there are a few more related products that i need to check. For sure the emulation's idea is the one that could solve the 'problem'..I will keep searching on...
Thanks to all! |

Well this is from a C64 emulator, so I think that would do. Google for C64 emulator windows or something, and then for SAM c64 and you should be on your way |

Thats definitely a C64 and/or C64 emulator!
It's all over those early Aphex tracks.
