hi,

i dove into the world of modular analogs recently. i purchased some used gear, one of the older asys cases with about 10 modules in it, and a newer doepfer g6 case with the current power supply. it was working great between the two systems, but then today i turned it on and started getting some strangeness.

if i patch the asys to the doepfer, the system stops making sound-even if the doepfer/asys connection isnt in the signal path. if i "half-patch" one of the doepfer connections into the asys (like out through the multiple), it works completely.

any ideas what's going on? did i blow a fuse?

Fuse issue would be evident if the Asys case doesn't work on it's own or if there are modules whose LED's are off. ASys cases blow fuses if anything touches anything. The G6 case doesn't have fuses but any of the lights at the end of the power strip being off means it's shorted.

You didn't say what you patched into what so you have much work to do to troubeshoot it yourself before anyone on the internet can help you. You may be patching an audio signal into a Cv input and then saying you get no sound.

Just check both cases for power separately and then make sure you know what the signal path ought to be and troublshoot piece by piece to make sure all of them work.

Dan

edit:

figured it out and yes, user error in the extreme

phew

was using a stereo cord out of the modular into my recording gear. exactly *why* it was doing what it was doing, i know not. but at least it's not some issue with my gear.

thanks, rewire, for trying to engage me on the issue.
