I seek enlightenment on the TL0xx series |
 |
|
Could any of you fine folks give me the rundown on the differences between
TL052 ,TL062 ,TL072, TL082 (and any other basic opamps) and when/why you might use one as opposed to another.
The lower-tech explanation the better

TL06X: Low power (0.2 mA per op-amp), fastest slew rate (3.5 V/us), noisiest (42 nV/sqrt(Hz)).
TL07X: Low noise (18 nV/sqrt(Hz)).
TL08X: As TL07X, but more noise (25 nV/sqrt(Hz)). Last edited by Pehr on Wed Apr 25, 2007 2:46 am; edited 4 times in total |

The difference is merely in the technical parameters responses and could we must to talk about the datsheets and about performances tests of the chips .
However in simply words... tl is a "low cost /good performaces commercial serie" for opamp.
We must say that for audio and cv applications 62 is better than 82
little better the noise rejection, little more "stability" etc.
But if you really want to ear the difference you must to buy other opamp...for example OPA serie. |

I allways thought the low power 062 is inferior for audio and the 072 is best???
but never did a listening test between them because as you said..the competitors that matter are opa´s ...
However...you find some 062 in behringer eurodesks... and 072 in soundcraft desks and other pro audio systems...
slewrate of a 072 should be higher than the one of a low power version...
i think its around 10-15 v/us on the 072...
OPA´s have >20 us... |

TL is a good solution (72 best for audio! i agree) cause the relationship
costs / performaces is good.
Opa serie have a superior quality but the prices are others
Look the datsheets...ther's opa (opa2134) best audio or best for cv applications (opa177) however you can ear the different results.
The best test you can do is for a expo cv driver for a vco where is requested a high stability of gain.
I tried this for a Thomas Henry 566VCO.
OPA177 is always in tune! TL071 if you simply try to touch it...arghhhh!
pain and horror on your vco! |

You forget the TL05x, which is marked in the datasheet as "better AC performance than the TL08x at noise levels comparable to the TL07x". By the way, that also suggests that the TL08x has better AC specs than the TL07x. |

Thanks for the replies.
I ordered some OPA's to give them a try.

Can you just replace a FET input opamp like the TL071 with a non-FET OPA177?
I'd opt for something like the AD711, but that's just because I have dozens of those lying around. |
