I hate to be a post-and-run kind of poster, but hey... you guys are wonderful at answering questions.

So anyway, a good friend of mine is looking to brew up an AC adapter that will fit his recording interface so that he can record for band (they're a fun pop-rock group http://www.myspace.com/dabears). I wish I could give him appropriate advice, but electricity confuses my brain and soul.

Quote:
During my move out to Philly, I lost the AC adapter to my Delta1010 (my recording interface). It hasn't turned up and I'm seriously DIEING to record again, and am in a pretty fucked situation. Radioshack doesn't carry one strong enough. Ebay doesn't have anything with the right specs. I've googled and found some, and talked to the store owners, but they can't guarantee that the end will fit into the plug. I called M-Audio, and they said to check their online store under accessories. I did, and the AC adapter I need is out of stock. I called back asking when it would be in stock, and the guy said he has no idea. I emailed the store twice, and haven't gotten a responce.

Any ideas? It needs to be 9V, 3500mA. I took measurements on another adapter that fits in, and compared it to a description on another one thats:
"metal connector end is barrel shaped with a 3/32" (2.1mm) hollow center measuring 14/32" long (Under a 1/2 inch) by 6/32" (5.5mm) wide".

Thanks guys. Razz

I'd buy the PSU that's up to specs. When the plug fits, lucky - otherwise cut off from the power supply ued for the measurements and solder it onto the new PSU. Then go buy a new plug for the old PSU, or in some other order depending on urge to record.

When he can't solder .. this would be a great time to learn Laughing

Is this it? That's an AC wall bug, not DC. This is important to determine.

If you need a 9V AC transformer, they not as hard to come by, actually.

3.5A x 12V = about a 40VA transformer.

Google for "9V 3.5 Amp AC transformer" comes up with a lot.

oh, and you can get a bigger transformer, like 4 or 5 amp, just don't get a smaller one. Wink

and the pin orientation doesn't matter on the connector. It's AC. There isn't a + and -.
