Subject description: Using "internal" and "external" sounds on NL2x?
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hello,

I am trying to use NL2x so it can play its own sounds on some memory slots (let's say A & B) while playing external sounds (from another keyboard) on slots C & D.

I would like to connect my Kurz Pc1Se to NL2x and split the sounds among the two board. I would use NL keyboard to play two sounds. For example, trumpets would come from Kurz and leads would come from NL. Both sounds would be played on NL keyboard.

Problem with this is that if I turn Local Off on NL for a specific slots (A&B), it automatically turns off the local sounds on C&D (I have to turn off local sounds on A&B to avoid hearing NL sounds when using external sounds from Kurz).

Am I doing something wrong or what I am trying to do is not feasible?

Thanks a lot!
Dennis

welcome Dennis,

Manual - page 71 (version Lead2) or page 76 (version Lead2X), under 'Midi Chanels':

All four Slots always receive MIDI, regardless of which one is selected, or if layering of one or more Slots is activated or not.

So, don't activate Slot A and B (the Leds won't be burnig then) and activate C and D, which will react to the keyboard. Slot A and B will react only to their, by you choosen, Midi Channels, in this case not a sequencer but the Kurzweil, which is sending on those channels, of course Smile

Thanks for you greatings Wout!

There is one problem. I don't want to receive any MIDI messages from Kurz. That's why I connected only NL MIDI OUT to Kurz MIDI IN. I want Nl to be sending on channels assigned to A & B (playing Kurz sounds without hearing local NL sounds) while playing only NL sounds on C & D.

Is this possible?

Thanks!
D
