NL2 patches on my 2x |
 |
|
For some time I have experimented with decent trancesounds on my 2x, but I didn't get the result I wanted. Some introduced me to synthdesign.com where I downloaded 40 patches. The format is mid but I couldn't load them into my 2x. Has somebody else tried precisely this file? I even tried with the factory presets from clavia, to be sure that all MIDI setup was correct. I has no problems loading the factory pacthes, this just didn't work.

The file is a typical .MID file that contains 40 patches. I don't really have any idea what bank it is overwriting as the file is written for the standard NL2.
Normally when you play a .MID file to import patches, you can see the whole bank is being scrolled through. This doesn't happen with this file and no new sounds. |

Well, the first question... Are you on PC or Mac?

Nordisk Musik, you downloaded and opened the file from that site. Maybe I'm missing something, but the *.rar file asks for StuffIt, which converts it into *.sit, which I can't open. How do you did it ?

I've played a little bit with some files...
I send the SysEx of the program and a midi file, because I think mp3 is as terrible as possible to listen to...
Set the Unison at 9 [Shift + 3 times Sys, program cursor to 9] to get the effect.
Midi 180 bpm.

yes I simply just draw the .MID file from the .RAR folder without getting any messages. Thanks for helping once again I'll look into this, I never really understood the unison option on this synth. I don't think any specific unison value is saved when writting a patch. |

Could you do this too for the NordLead3 files on that site and send me the midi? I would be grateful!

Mostly I use the Unison set to 1, which means only a stereo sound with a slight delay, because that detuned sound isn't always nice When I use Unison to be detuned I use 5, but mostly 9, which gives the effect the most.
Indeed, Unison is a global effect, to all the Slots and stays the same until changed. The NordLead3 has the ability to save the Unison in the Patch and therefor use different Unison in a Performance (Unison has it's own DSP, so the Voices per Slot stay the same)

.RAR files are compressed files like .ZIP. They use a Russian compression tool called WinRar, but I think recent versions of Winzi will uncompress .rar files. If not, you can get a short-trem version of Winrar from the winrar website.
As far as what's inside the .rar file, who knows. |
