I enjoy the grid/matrix interface of the evolver more than i thought i would. I think that it is a very efficient sollution considering the space available. I find that i can already patch pretty fast with it ( i have had the evolver a couple of days ).

However, learning from the presets in the machine is a lot harder to me. My main synth in my setup is a g2 engine and i am used to getting the hang of a patch pretty quickly ( as long as the computer is connected obviously ), but checking all the parameters by moving the knobs one step doesnt really seem like a viable option.

So my question is : Does anyone have any experience of the Unisyn editor ? There is a link to a mac editor on the DSI website but it is for mac only, and I use a PC at the moment. Are there any other tools that you find useful with the evolver that you think I should know about?

...i sprung for the pc editor (i think it was $50), and it was well spent (it is hard to deconstruct otherwise). i did first spend a good deal of time without the editor, so i am familiar enough to tweak it live.

i actually like editing from the front pannel (i have the mono evolver), except for the sequencer. there are some good pc1600x programs out there for editing the evolver, and i use this for sequencer programming only. the only downside to this is that i find it most useful for creating new sequences rather than adjusting existing ones (as the sliders aren't motorized, they don't reflect the current value unless you just set it).

Yes, the editor shines in the analyse as well as the patch organizing department. By the PC editor, do you mean the MOTU thingie?

Ah ok. I downloaded one from soundtower ( http://www.soundtower.com/evolver/ ) is that the one that you are using? It seems pretty capable.[/quote]

I paid the Evolver editor from PsiCraft thru PayPal today. They got the payment alright, but when I try to download the setupZIP it takes ages before I get in contact with their download server. When I finally do, all I get is an empty zip file. Anybody else had this problem??

A while ago I tried to buy the Psicraft editor, and I didn't even get that far. I couldn't even find the button to purchase the damn thing! You're doing well Laughing

Seriously though, you should send Psicraft an email, they should be able to help you out. Smile

Still no reply from PsiCraft. I really want to have the editor before going on my holliday. Planned to bring some equipment along. Of course the DSI Evolver. Since I already have the registration code I wonder if somebody that bought the editor from PsiCraft could send it or put it up somewhere for download. Please mail me at junk@techstylism.com if you want to help me out.

regards // jaques

Hi Guys,

First of all the PsiCraft editor is superb, much better than the soundTower editor.

First of all you should go to Yahoo Groups and join the vyzor_evolver_beta group, post any problems to this group. PsiCraft look at this all the time.

There is a guy called Tony who is very helpfull you can email him at tony@vyzor.com

Hope this helps

Andy

Great.

Its a very good editor, some things are a little strange but overall very good.

It doesn't work well as a vst though as you get problems sharing the midi connection with the host app. You need to use something like midi-yoke and midiox to get it to work, I must admit I don't bother.

Version 2 which will be a free upgrade available sometime this year will work correctly as a vst.

Cheers

Hi,

I am satisfied with it, beta of version 2 should be coming out soon which should work correctly as a vst.

I even prefer using the editor to the knobs on my poly keyboard!

Cheers

I'm pretty sure it is a free upgrade, you may want to email them to find out.
