lets just chalk it up to conflicting taste's then because my qualms have nothing to do with time spent not that it matters but i've been engineering for over 15 years

mmmm.. me too. (started doing live sound when i was in junior high for my moms church...32 now)
i'm sure are there are many different opinions on here. all i know is i make a living engineering people and they keep coming back.
did you check out any of the mixes on indie911?
BUT i am of the school of thought with my own stuff that the song comes first and the mix/production second. (with my rock stuff)
if you want to hear a band of mine that had super high production values you should check out BILL DING on hefty records.
but
some of my favorite records of all time are not very well recorded but they have an immediacy to them which i think is important. when i record in my bedroom (which all the stuff youve heard was done in my bedroom) i dont take time getting mics setup well, or making sure that the street cant be heard-i focus on the getting the idea down on disk. and then later, when i want to be able to show it to people, i do a rough mix. which probrably doesnt involve too much. BUT if and when i release stuff, i spend forever on it.
i did a deepdish remix last year that we spent forever mixing. weeks. different horse for different courses as someone else on hear said.
anyway, i respect your opinion and i am sure you are a fine engineer. i tried your mysapce page but the music just kept saying loading. i will be interested to hear it.
anyway, to be sure i am not a purist about audio unless i am being paid by the hour _________________ -------------------------------------------- check out various dan music at: http://www.myspace.com/lossnyc

no the music on the sato site is not mine its just the stuff i listen to, which is what i thought you were asking about
i listened to a few tracks on indie911 which is what lead me to say that we just have different tastes. its not big deal. i just thought i'd offer some feedback if you wanted to hear it and you don't. understandable and forgotten
back to our regularly scheduled programming...
the middle plexi, is that the sample and hold? its my new favorite panel of all time. did you just break out shapes to make those?
