nord lead 2x arpegiator Subject description: how do i get my nord lead 2x arpegiator in time with the tempo i require?? |

I want to get the arpegiator in time with a beat that i am using which is set to a certain tempo.
I know how to view the value that the arpegiator is at range 0-127, but this doesn't correspond to tempos i don't think.
Does anyone know how this 0-127 scale works in relation to tempo?

Well, I made some measurements and they are only average values, except 56 is exactly 120 BPM, so better retrigger every bar by using the keys...
Anyway, you're able to synchronize to incoming MidiClock.

Sorry, I think I understand what you mean, but never saw a standard for a connection between a MIDI CC value and the BPM count, so I guess it's just arbitrary and that each synth would have a different table. Sorry when I answered another question ...
Maybe with MidiOx you could experiment with generating MIDI events, I'm not sure I never used it myself, but a lot of people here do ... so there might be a chance even on getting help about it. _________________ Jan

When you want the BPM to be synced between your computer and your synth you'll need a MIDI interface. One of the devices has to be a master for sending the BPM info and the other one has to listen, this can be set up in most synths and in most music software. No need to buy an expensive interface, a simple one will get you going. _________________ Jan

Any system which can send MidiClock will do, like software in your computer e.g. CuBase, or another synth which is able to do this. In your situation it has to have the possibility to set the exact BPM. Indeed you need a Midi Interface. Be sure it can be used together with your computer.
Certainly the NL2X isn't exactly BPM, but you can synchronize it. Assuming you want to use 138 BPM in your song, set the Arpeggiator to the Midi value 44 Sorry, this has to be 58, which is 135 BPM. Yes, it will run slower, so after one minute you'll be 3 beats behind. Setting the Midi value: [Shift+LFO1 = value in LCD, so turn the LFO2 Rate to 44 (58)]
To make it run better you have to synchronize LFO2 (Arpeggiator) to the MidiClock and best using the 'whole bar' value. This is the longest synchronization time possible on the NL2X. The Arp will restart every bar, which is short enough not to notice the BMP shifting... To get the synchronization: [Shift+[2x]Special > LCD will read 2.* > using Up/Down make it read 2.1]
Now the Arpeggiator will sound 'almost' every quarter note and the shifting is almost impossible to detect, even using percussion sounds. A drawback is the Arpeggio runs only one bar and restarts. If you want it to run faster, set it to a higher Arpeggio Rate value. Don't double the 44, because this isn't the BPM value, but something of the NL2X itself. Take a look which figure is given in the table above. Twice as fast uses 276 BPM. No figure in the table? That's right... I'm still measuring, but one day it will be finished

No, there is no typo
In fact, it isn't Midi at all, in the normal sense. Clavia uses the figures 0 to 127 to make a value of the parameter. In the Nord Modular Classic it was mostly called Midi. It's just a value the synth uses to communicate inside (Panel to Motherboard) The Midi mentioned here is not a Continuous Controller... LFO1 Rate is Midi CC 19, which can send 0 to 127 values out.
When setting LFO2 (Arpeggiator) to the value 58 (It can be seen in the LCD screen after using [Shift+LFO1WaveForm] the length between the notes (triggers) is 0.445 ms.
60 divided by 0.445 gives 134.8314606741573033707865168539233 ans something more I would say it's almost 135 BPM.
Anyway, it's better to use a slightly lower BPM in the Lead compared with the MasterClock.
I still have to do the other values to BPM.
Someone in favor for a special BPM? (Okay, Lead value to BPM)
Oooh, wait!!!
The typo is in the post, not in the table.
Indeed, 44 is 60 BPM and 58 is 135 BPM
