in the original block ideas there were a few ideas that no one has ever explained (or given a chip number)

1 of 4 Bit adder. is this a 4008??

1 of Pulse Modifier...i can find no 4000 chip listed as this.

1 of Binary Comparator ...what chip is this?

they all sound cool so if anyone knows what chips might make them a reality, please explain!

thanks.

btw, i have recently been putting my guitar through the 4015 with a 40106 as a clock, and its pretty wild. next up, voltage control!

Binary comparator = "4-bit magnitude comparator" http://www.nxp.com/acrobat_download/datasheets/74F85_2.pdf - you'll want the HC instead of the F variation probably.

a pulse modifier could be made by using a 555 in one-shot mode
it lets you change the pulse length of events but can be useful for limiting rates of events too

and for adding voltage control i think the 4046 PLL VCO is the perfect chip for that purpose especially since you mentioned playing guitar

Yep, the binary adder could be a 4008 - 4 BIT ADDER WITH PARALLEL CARRY

The binary comparator could also be a 4063 - 4 BIT MAGNITUDE COMPARATOR

The pulse modifier was explained further down the block thread but could be as simple as a 555 in one shot mode as suggested by jnuaury or more complex by using a 4528 or 4538 monostable which gives you reset options and positive or negative edge triggering.

Cheers,
Adam-V
