Hi!

I recently got hold of a MicroModular, and I'm quite new to the whole sound-design stuff. That's why I'm now studying How To Make A Noise, to get some grasp on how to create patches. I'm working myself through the examples, and I've run into a few problems. The context is: dual equally tuned oscillators, and how osc sync, detune, phase offset affect the timbre. Pretty basic stuff.

I have two basic problems:

1) Is it possible to control the start phase of an oscillator
2) When using hardsync on equally tuned oscs, detune does not work any more as it would on free-runnings oscs. For obvious reasons of course. However, one of the examples in the book IS a synced & detuned pair of oscs, which gives a "spittier" character to the attack of the sound as opposed to free-running oscs. So is it possible to sync the phase of two oscs at the onset of the note, and then let them run freely I suppose so detune still works?

Cheers, and I must say, I REALLY love the MicroModular.

welcome Koen,

2) yes, sync the oscillators from the gate output of a keyboard module, they will then start at zero phase when you press a key, and after that they'll be free running.

1) I forgot Shocked ... but see Rob's tutorials here

Thanks Blue Hell, I'll give that a go.

Regarding my phase question, I found a topic (down here) that provides two solutions. I'll have a look at those.

Just wanted to let you guys know that both solutions worked like a charm! Learned a lot yesterday evening. Cheers!
