Hi,

I though it would be good to start a thread about touch points and other such human interface devices.

I found this in a circuit cookbook though it would be interesting - but how would you convert it to a trigger? this would be much more useful

you can get 4 out of one IC

You can use a 40106 gate to change pulse widths (ie make a trigger) - have a look at the osc schem I posted --- feed a regular sqr through a low value cap and then into a 40106 gate, plus a 22k resistor tied to ground or V+.

Hmm, thinking on that, you'd probably be able to do that with one of the NAND gates too -- just tie the two inputs together... Hmmmmmmm!

I just found an old adat.
I am sure many of you have read about the resistive qualities of this tape and some of you have probably seen the diy ribbon controllers made with them.
The tape appears to be perfect for these type of circuits as it is very high. 24 inches got me over 10meg of resistance.

You could easily control a CMOS oscillator with a few inches of this tape.

"A Darlington pair is sufficiently sensitive to respond to the small current passed by your skin and it can be used to make a touch-switch as shown in the diagram. For this circuit which just lights an LED the two transistors can be any general purpose low power transistors. The 100k resistor protects the transistors if the contacts are linked with a piece of wire."

Very cheap cost for parts! Smile

haven't had a chance to give this a shot yet (i.e. i don't have any 4001s kicking around), but it occurs to me that this might be of use:

do let me know in the event that you make useful hay of it. i won't be far behind.

forest mimms has a couple of touch sensative switchers or LED lighters that could be useful in his 555 books

Would it be possible to connect both these circuits to the same touch switch (TS1 to TS) in order to get CV, Gate, Trigger and Velocity CV from the same switch?
