Subject description: Developing new tool in MAX/MSP/Jitter for Music&Video output

We've had discussions on this site about about the relationship between music and visuals.

As a new strategy, I've developed a tool I use to "traverse" video files in real time. I establish a loop/jump length (in frames), a speed (in milliseconds), a center of the jump (in frames from the beginning of the video). In real time I start the tool running, starting from the middle of the loop and playing alternate frames up to the top of the loop, and simultaneously alternate frames down to the bottom of the loop. While it does this, it plays audio for the corresponding frame. This sets up rhythms based on several aspects, both the parameters I've set for the engine, and the given parameters of the recorded audio.

In real time, I vary the differing parameters, and change how the software traverses the video. I can also have the video just play forward or backward from the center of the loop without the simultaneous traversing.

I'm developing this for real time performance. Presently I have several instances of short traversals at http://www.vimeo.com/user427093/videos
I'm referring to the tool as the Simultaneous Opposites engine, so if you're interested look for the clips labeled "Simultaneous Opposites".
