Remote Zero & Micro Modular Help Needed Subject description: Micro Mod Editor does not see u mod |
 |
|
I recently purchased a Novation Remote Zero and am not that familiar with it for starters...
Scope of what I want to to do... Use the Remote Zero midi out/in to access the micro modular editor... Use my Kontrol 1 audio interface to send midi and also to control parameters of the u mod via the controls on the Kontrol 1 (knob and 3 buttons)...
Here is the issue...
Remote Zero connections
midi out----->PC IN (u mod)
midi in------> PC OUT (u mod)
Remote Zero and u mod are set to channel 1
u mod editor is set for win 98 compatability and in mid pref the in and out ports of the editor are set to Remote Zero port 1...
When launching the editor to access the u mod it searches kind of finds it and then gives a mssg to try reseting your midi connection... When I try the same scenario but with the Kontrol 1 everything works...
Like I said I'm not familiar with the Remote Zero and have a feeling that the AUto mapping feature may be causing an issue... What it boils down to is that I want to be able to assign the Kontrol 1 controls to parameters on the u mod... The other way around this and i have yet to try is to use the Kontrol 1 to access the editor set up the parameters I want to control on the u mod then disconnect the Kontrol 1 from the editor and connect to the midi in of the u mod and control away...
Hopefully this makes some sense...
thanks. |

You can't ... however you can control the micro modular itself by connecting your device to the micro's normal (non PC) MIDI ports.
When you right click on a knob in a module (in the NM editor) you can assign a (physical, front panel) knob and you can assign a MIDI CC for that parameter. When you did both the CC selected can be used from your controller to control the associated parameter in the synth. The changes you make to the patch parameters that way will be made visible then in the editor as well (i.e. the knobs in the editor will move with the knobs on your controller).
Hope that helps. _________________ Jan

Thanks for your reply... I did not explain myself well enough... The Novation in/out is connected to the PC in/out of the u mod... I have searched thru the threads and from what I have found that it is most likely a midi hardware compatability issue...
Here is the error mssg...
"out of memory. open the midi dialog and enable the port again"
and when i go there to reactivate it i get this,
"lost contact. open the midi dialog and enable the port again" |

The micro modular's PC in/out ports can only be used by the editor software and not by your novation. The only way your controller can control the micro modular is through it's regular (non PC) MIDI ports. Also it is not possible to remote control the Clavia editor software, but indeed I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish
Anyway the error messages you are quoting are error messages from the Clavia editor, and when your novation is connected to the micro modular's PC ports the editor can't be ... and so the messages are just what I would expect ... the editor does not see the micro modular ...
Where am I going wrong? _________________ Jan
