how would you go about making a 'repeating' envelope?

Lots of ways, the most obvious probably is to use an LFO connected to the gate in, disconnect the internal keyboard connection by clicking the blue [KBD] button.
The AD/R type has a end out, connect it to the gate in (in trigger mode) and the envelope will repeat at a rate determined by the attack+decay time.
You can use an AND gate and a keyboard module so that the repeat only occurs when a key is pressed. Connect the LFO and GATE to the two inputs then the out goes to the envelope gate input.

thanks for the ideas, i'll try them out.

i'm still pretty new at this, so some things that are simple to do on other gear throw me for a loop sometimes - that's the price of flexibility, i guess.
