Here is a nice little add-on board you can use for your MIDI based projects. It's a small electronics board that mounts to your front panel and houses electronics that will display a MIDI channel on two blue 7 segment digital displays, from 1 through 16 and outputs a 4 bit TTL Level select logic to your circuit in correspondence to the channel displayed. I figured why use DIP switches, rotary switches, or other more arcane methods for MIDI channel selection when a nice display with digital select logic will do nicely. You can use it for new projects OR you can use it to retrofit any older equipment.

Also available is a mounting kit with blue filter bezel for a nice professional look.

The complete details are in the attached PDF document.

MCC's are $26.00 built and tested
MCC hardware Kit with Blue Filter $6.00
MCC Chip is available for $10.00
MCC connecting harness kit with 8 24" leads, 8 position female Housing, and 9 crimp pins $5.00

AVAILABLE AND READY TO SHIP .... NO WAIT ....

Shipping is $4.80 to US/CAN Flat rate for 1 or 10 units ....

Shipping to all other destinations worldwide is $8.00 .....

The sMs Paypal address is:

billnrob@optonline.net

....... oh yes, the HEX code is available on request of you want to roll your own as this is a public domain project ... the PDF has schematic and source code listing written in "PB Pro" for general understanding but you will want to just flash the code into the device.

Nice add-on.

Two questions:

Are these generic displays? (I'm not very fond of blue LEDs in equipment)

Can it be extended to 6 bits? Two of these would make a killer interface for the Quantix 8!

Yes, they are. You can put either RED or BLUE, or any color you like. I have attached two 7 SEG display data sheets. One for RED and one for BLUE. If you get RED, you will just have to get a RED filter since I am only sticking the BLUE ones in the mounting kit.

Looking at the block diagram for the Quantix8, I would say the the MCC is not a good application for this since the BANK and WAVEFORM slection is voltage controlled. You will need to wedge logic between the LATCH and DISPLAY to just transcode the straight binary data and then display, on say (4) 7-SEG Multiplexed displays the BANK (00-32) and WAVEFORM (00-64). Another PIC or AVR would do nicely in this role. It takes a bit of hardware, and a small bit of code, to do it and probably reason why only LED's were used and you have to interpret the binary code yourself. Easier and cheaper. Wink
