In my Adventures of finding new and creative was to generate and compose new music and my joy for Ascii art I came upon the idea that instead of convert text to midi like words poems ect.. why don't try converting ascii art to midi which in theory of how the text is converted is the same thing really.

I Have a example that I have posted on blog where i generated a fratcal art then converted it into ascii art version took the ascii version and converted it into midi composition

I like to hear everyone's thoughts on this ..

I'm not sure what going through the intermediate ascii art representation contributes, except perhaps for some data reduction, and perhaps some imposition of the distribution of characters supplied by the image-to-ascii converter.

I must say for my own compositions I've never been a big fan of mapping so-called nature to compositional structures. The space is too big. Presently for algorithmic composition, I prefer looking at mapping structures in one human non-musical domain to structures in music.

If I were using some fractal phenomenon, for example path length (How long is the coast of Britain? -- or as I prefer, taking a long walk on a short pier), I'd use it to map directly to some musical structural property such as phrase length of successive choruses, or number of notes at a time in an arpeggio, or some other isomorphic structure.

I don't see how having an ascii intermediate form adds any structure. It would seem to reduce structure.
