Hi folks bought a nord G1 keys yesterday.
looking for patches to start with.
all patches stopped at 2004?

No manual with the nord, is it possible to change the display brightness?

Congratulations!

There are some patches scattered around in the NM Classic forum here and maybe some in an email archive for the Nord Modular mailing list ... but the production rate dropped a bit when the G2 came out. But then again .. there shuld be over 25000 in the regular archives still ...

The manual is still available from the Clavia web site (through discontinued products).

The LCD backlight can not be dimmed.

25000? there must be some interesting sounds there.
I am looking at the moment for ppg like sounds and digital "avant garde" things.

also want to try to float my gibson flying V trough the nord.

party!

The NM-1 is brilliant. I have two.

PPG sounds? The Wave series? Nah.. well.. you can get some similar sounds out of it, but don´t expect huge PPG wavetable fun.

Am I allowed to advise you to read the Manual completely? Maybe a permanent copy lying in the lavatory? Very Happy

Just beware...
25 000 Patches is the same as nothing at all!
Best to surf the two Catagorized Archives.
Anyway, there is just one person who heard them all: me! (Besides the Audio In Patches, because these are mostly constructed for special situations)

Don’t forget the workshops at http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/015_Workshops/
And the Threads at http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/014_Interesting_Threads/

Nice and funny things are to be found in the normal archive (the one categorized at the names of the creator).
Take a look at http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/011_Patches/Doornekamp_Ico/ [IClock02] (A Cou-cou clock which runs in time) and [Pong]
http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/011_Patches/Ripa_Peter/HeartBeats/ a doctor who simulated heart failures
http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/011_Patches/Singer_Chet/ special the [csPumpOrgan] (You’ll need a Pedal installed…)
http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/011_Patches/Crosley_Keith_R/ [WindUpToy] Smile (If you want I wrote an explanation of the Patch)

Of course http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/011_Patches/Maarel_Kees_van_der/ who can speak and write using the NM Classic…

Hmm, that's where my G2 manual is spending most of its time. Another couple of weeks, with plenty of fiber...

Yes - and it`s not easy to find "the right one" if you searching for something special ...

Although I use the categorized patch archive - usually I can not find the sound that was in my mind ... so I have to start with a blank page or modify one of my own patches ...

A few of god, amazing sounds that will "work" is much precious than a collection of 10.000 sounds ...

It's true - I never had time to review most of the archive patches. I found a few that I like and I tend to stick with those plus my own custom ones. It would be nice to have some kind of "best of" list, maybe by consensus. Even just one person's favorites makes a good starting point.

Maybe a "best of list" is a good idea >>> every forum-user present one (! not more !) of his (own !) patches - and everybody must create a description (!) how to use and the possibilitys of the patch ...

The limitation and the effort (desription) for everybody - would bring a slim and high quality library ... and you have a relation / referencing to the author (!) ...

Not thousands of e-pianos, moog-leads nobody will ever use - no standard / "GM" -emulation ... just amazing, interesting and special sounds *g* ...

Is it technically possible to create a "user ranking" in this forum ? I mean that every user who tested one of the patches from the "best of list" can give a assessment / voting (maybe from one to ten "stars") - sorry I`m a newbie here - I`ve seen this at different guitar-tab-sites - I think it would really help to find the best of the best ...

Definitely yes ! I found this patch last week randomly without the description ... I thought / expect something like "windchimes". After downloading >>> no action by the keys, no start button ... just one assigned knob ? Then my fingers touched the knob ...

Shocked What great funny idea ! Respect to the unknown author - also for the smile on my face last week (every time I remembered the winduptoy) Very Happy ... I would rate 10 of 10 points ...

Just this moment I discovered the description - really graphically - congratulations ...
You are the author of the description, Wout ?

Is there more of stuff like this on electro-music.com ?

Go for the workshops and Interesting Threads.
WindUpToy isn't there yet (The Threads, that is) but there will be an update sometimes.
Anyway, enough reading and experimenting for a year or so.
