Hi
I'm looking for the smallest possible midi device that could generate start stop messages etc... it does not need to generate any sound just midi...
I,m using the midi output of a beatbox for that purpose but i would really love to find something much smaller with only a play stop etc buttons... (no sequencer etc..) ,in a way like a play stop button for the G1
Does it exist? is there an easy way to built that kind of equipment...
Any info on that would be great
Thank you

yes I have two, one for studio, one for live. They work great - though it takes a little while to get the feel of how they work.
Basically you tap the 3 and 4, and it sends a midi start on the the 1 and then you can leave it at that or carry on tapping. The weakness is that they don't run with a set tempo, just what you tap, so there is no possibilty to come in exactly at 140bpm or whatever
They are quite smoothed so you can keep tapping through a whole a track, for example to keep a sequencer or midi controlled delay perfectly in time with drummers who are speeding up and slowing down. Its much more accurate and musical than the tap on an Akai MPC or something like that.
Basically it slaves the whole midi clock to a live feeling and that works perfectly for me with improvising, I can take the tempo from what the other musicians are doing rather than being the guy with a drum machine who always imposes his tempo on everyone else |

nice...
just ordered one via web, the only concern i have is the stop action take one second or so... no fast start stop start... possible
i'm really anxious to test that pedal live.. i sometime play in a more traditional formation with drummer etc... so having the possibility to follow beat more than impose is very nice... maybe the drummer could take care of the tap himself so i would not have to worry about sync.. and just modulate and play with the sound which is what i like more
thank you

What about the Korg nanoKONTROL or nanoPAD? It's a usb device, but there must be a driver etc. to send midi to the MM.
Anybody use one of these with the MM? They may not be available in the US yet. |
