still cant get external midi control! |
 |
|
hi all - this is the one thing that ive never been able to get working on my NMM and its getting a bit ridiculous; using an external midi controller to change parameters in a patch.
- ive tried multiple controllers (trigger finger / m-audio oxygen / keyrig / etc).
- ive read the manual and have gone through the different ways of assigning ccs, and double checking that theses are the correct ccs and all.
- i can send messages via the keys but it never recognizes the knobs / cc messages.
is there something im missing in the settings of my patches or on the unit itself?
thanks in advance for your help. |

Can you play notes on the NM from your midi controller?
How do you have them connected?
Is your controller sending on the same channel that NM is receiving? _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

ok - 2 more questions;
i read a post from mr.blue hell on a different thread that patches have to "listen for midi" for there to be input from a controller. is the MIDIGLOBAL module the way to do this?
also in the midi setup section of the osx editor you have to select the ports you want to use (ive always just used the one for pc connection to nmm). does this have to get setup too to receive ccs? |

1) there is no need to use a MIDI global module. Right click on a knob on a module in the patch and assign that knob to a MIDI CC, this should be sufficient for MIDI CC reception for that knob.
2) The MIDI setup is for editor communications only, not for note or CC messages. For the editor connection th NM's PC ports are used, for MIDI control the other two ports of the NM are used.
Further, in the synth settings dilaog in the editor the MIDI channels have to be setup for each slot and CC reception must be enabled.
That should be all that is needed on the NM side. _________________ Jan

thanks for the reply - ive checked and double checked the channels. . but i cant see a "cc reception" option anywhere. but i doubt thats the real problem, since ive been able to recieve cc messages from ableton. |
