So refreshing to hear and see this kid play these songs!
I've had my fill of little kids playing blues and heavy metal on Youtube. I could listen to this guy all day. _________________ Current and recent work on Soundcloud
Hopefully that one was tongue-in-cheek, Carlo!
Seriously though, I've studied music myself, and I've had periods where I've questioned the legitimacy of my studies, as I felt it might be detracting from the pure artistic or spiritual aspects of my music-making. Now, I feel that I'm a better musician for having a little theoretical knowledge to go with my fundamentally fairly visceral playing.
I do wish I'd started sooner, though - and maybe had a decent tutor when I was lickle! _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. Where there are too many soldiers, there is no peace. Where there are too many lawyers, there is no justice.

Very cool video, great playing. The complicated timing was perfect. One thing I liked was the intense expression on his face and his motions grooving, that showed he knew exactly what he was doing.
He's not just a good young player. Completely ignoring his age, he's still a master player.
13 is of course an adult in most traditional societies, and here's a good reason why that makes sense.

Not feeling like I know my way completely around this kind of music, that was exactly my impression as I watched the video. There is a threshold where you stop acting with an instrument to impress others (like you often see kids do on videos like these, having been told what to do by elders), and instead just let the music communicate. A focus - deciding that the music is more important than the act. That it doesn't seem to be too much of a bother to the kid is beside the point. Enjoyable!
Also, I don't see why this would make anyone want to quit playing guitar. It makes me want to pick it up! Not because I think I could train to be as good as he is, but because he makes me enthusiastic about music, makes me want to feel out some notes.
