welcome Robert (rp2)

If there is just a slot, this doesn't mean anything. If it has a click button to release the cards, it has a card reader and is expanded.
Also, when booting the synth there has to appear an [E] (meaning Expanded) in the LCD screen.

When it is expanded you could buy a PCMCIA card. mercu80 has some in an offer, see http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-44315.html
Otherwise try:
Memorix Elektronik
Zum Ebgelberg 12

Germany
Tel. 0049-761-4004440
Fax. 0049-761-4004441
Email: memorix@t-online.de

BTW I should buy two of them.

Excellent!

Thank you Wout, it seems i lucked out and its already expanded! i assumed it wasn't since it was so cheap!

while ive got your attention Wout i would like too ask you two questions that i have after reading through some of your Red Lady articles:

1) secret filter, i skimmed through the text looking for more information on this but could not find anything?

and last but not least Arp Hold; i tried this method as you said but it didnt seem to work everytime i held shift then arp it just first changed the modulation wheel control then the arp function?

Thank you soo much for your help!!!

Press [Shift+Filter Type] (Hold Shift!!!) and three LED's will lit: HighPass + Notch or the Secret Filter Smile

Sure, because this Hold function is only on the NordL/R2(X). I'll try SlotHold and SustainHold in the near future on my NR1. I'll rework the text on the Red Lady pages.
(and maybe finish some unfinished work there)

Just carefull looking at the synth. What can it do? This goes for every synthesizer.
I started with modular synthesis and using those systems one learns a lot what is possible and what isn't.

Hey Wout ive got another question for you

how do i select between the program slots (A,B,C,D)?
When i just click the different slots it seems to just play the A slot.
I was reading in the forum you said something about changing the midi channels all to 1. When i did that the slots seemed to bleed together. I just want to be able to select a slot then hear selected slot solely.

Thanks you!

The Rack differs from the Lead being without internal keys, so each Slot reacts to its assigned Midi channel, even when the Slot isn't active (lit LED).
On the NordRack(1) there is also the Leftmost active Slot Midi channel rule,
which says all other Slots always react to that Midi channel too, when active, that is.

Using a sequencer this is easy, but using a controller keyboard it is confusing. It's designed to create Performances, so one plays Slot A and every Slot activate will do the same, no matter what channel they are on.

When setting all Slots to the same Midi channel, all Slots will react to that particular channel. Better to leave the set channel 1, 2, 3 and 4 and change this on the controller. In this situation one can switch between Slots and their sounds.

On a Lead this is different, because the internal keyboard doesn't work by Midi. Just activating a Slot will make it react to the keys.
