oooh, man -
Haven't downloaded this yet but if it's good, I need it. Just saw Gary Numan in Portland, Oregon on Monday and was yet again blown away by his old sound - no true Polys this time, but some damned rich sounds.
Re existing stiff - there's a patch called Hypersquare in the libraries that does some of the Numan Polymoog effect, but if you've done Vox Humana I'll name my next child after you - assuming I ever get the vasectomy reversed ;')
Time to download! |

He's playing in the Bay Area this week- (I think it's already over.)
Tickets were sold out before I knew the show was coming _________________ Free Tibet. Release the Panchen Lama from prison. Let the Dalai Lama return to his home. |

I hope it will sound the way you like
For Gary Numan style use PolyMoogHumana patch with variation 1,2 (best one I guess) 3 and 7, with mod wheel at 25% and wheel2 at 30% (what you want on wheel1) and PolyMoogHumana2 patch with variation 4 and mod wheel at 50% wheel2 at 30% and wheel1 at 0.
Of course playing with the wheels provides a much more alive sound....
Unfortunately Gary Numan doesn't seam to have any show planed somewhere in France _________________ Christophe Duquesne |

You never know, he may add more dates to his tour.
Likewise, Jean-Michel Jarre still has no US dates scheduled for his current world tour. _________________ Free Tibet. Release the Panchen Lama from prison. Let the Dalai Lama return to his home. |

Nice patch :¬)
I saw Mr Numan live at the Auckland town hall back in the late 70's. Great show. I had a friend who owned a polymoog that I helped get working in the 80's. I think I read somewhere that Gary only used the limited 'polymoog keyboard' version.
In theory, the full polymoog could do all that the lesser synth could do. In practice, the presets on the cheep version used fixed, inductor based resonators for subtle tone shaping. No mater how the variable active resonator was set, it didn't sound like the vox humana preset.
I downloaded some vox humana wav samples and to be honest, the raw sound seems far removed from what you hear on record. The tone shaping is far more subtle than I expected. |
