Subject description: pitch/mod issues
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hi all!

Wondering if anyone has ever had an issue with in-operable modulation and pitch bend on a nord lead 1x?

I checked the sys. settings, and pitch bend range is at full. I also get no error on start up, which seems like what should happen according to the manual.

It's running 2.6 era firmware. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

welcome idiot.radar

Did you already lifted the red hood?
For details see

Check the connection wires on the devices and boards.

It looks like the first steps

Wout

PS
What is a NordLead1X?
Is it a typo or a special edition?

Wout,

yeah, I guess that formatting's a little weird. It's the original lead. I popped the hood and all the connections looked good. I also de-oxidized the wiring harnesses on both sides. All the solder points look good, and seems odd that it would be these 2. Intuition tells me a firmware issue, but I won't discount hardware yet...

I have got exactly the same problem with my Nord Lead 1. The connections of the pitch stick and modwheel are okay, pitch and modulation wheel functions work via MIDI but the pitch stick and modwheel on the NL1 do not do anything. On startup of the machine Er and then A is displayed.

Are you sure it isn't [E] then [rA]?
In which case it means the synth thinks it's a Rack version...
[E] means 'expanded' and [rA] means 'rack'.

[Er] could be 'error' on [A]???

Wout, yes, it´s "E" and then "rA". what does this mean? Has somebody put a Nord Rack board into my NL1 (I have just bought the unit used)?

The operating system can't find the wheel or the stick!
If the wires are okay, one of the units might be broken.
Anyway, it's a service station job. You can't do it yourself.

Thank you, Wout. This does not sound very good to my ears. I am afraid that I will have to return the NL1 to the dealer, where I bought it. What a pity - it sounds so good.

It can be repaired. NordLead-1's aren't that easy to get now-a-days...

Wout

I have seen many on ebay recently. Do you think that the NL1 sounds much different from the current NL2x?
