This is fascinating stuff! I just bought the book/2 CD set. Thanks for posting.
Too bad that the one existing unit was cannibalized for parts.I tend to have doubts that Mr. Mothersbaugh will ultimately be able to restore it.

Very interesting folks, both HL and RS. I had the opportunity to work with Jeff Winner, one of the producers of the Raymond Scott book/CD Set (MRI Inc) from Basta Records.

I helped with a bit of research of Raymond Scotts business location in Farmingdale, NY over at Willow Park Center where Manhhattan Research Inc. was located. This is the location where RS did most of the Electronium work until he packed up and left for Motown records in california. Jim Henson, of Muppets fame, use to visit RS over at this location in NY to do collaborations on some of his work.

I believe that Raymond Scott was a pioneer when it came to using electronic sounds in commercials. Audio Logos as he called them.

Very doubtful. I have a number of detailed B&W pictures of it's innards and trust me, it would be an impossible task. All the PC cards are basically smashed and there are twisted wire harnesses all over the place and no clear documentation of which incarnation this electronium is (there are several that RS worked on including even table top models). I got prints of these photos from Pete Shruders of Basta Records. The photos are of a visit he had with Marc Mothersbaugh over in california.

One of Raymond Scotts chief technicians still lives here on Long Island not far from me. I had offered my services years ago to help restore the Electronium if Marc had decided to do it .. BUT ... it never happened .. and thus, the Electronuim still sits silent.

I had some ideas if anyone is interested.
