Alchemy Mobile for iOS |
 |
|
Camel Audio has released Alchemy Mobile Free for iOS. comes with a small selection of good sounding patches. There are several in-app purchases including more soundbanks and a 'Pro' version that allows you to interface with the desktop version and gives you a few more patches. I don't have the desktop version but did purchase the other sound banks - there are some great patches in there! Unfortunately for now it cannot operate in the background and doesn't recognize virtual midi ports...but both Ben and Andy at Camal have said they are eager to listen to suggestions and will consider them for future updates.
Certainly worth checking out for free....some really nice atmospheric sounds _________________ Dave

Nor have you the ability to save or have access to all the programmability. Camel to me haven't done their research properly and have concluded that the iPad can be used for nothing more than a controller- which we all know is not true.
I hope Camel are listening, because Alchemy for iOS is a bit of a wasted opportunity. A shame really, because the limited patches that come with the thing are already pretty mindblowing. _________________ ACHTUNG!

Actually I think they were/are looking at an 'Alchemy Player' app similar to what they have out for desktops. The idea being to make money selling the sound sets. Would be nice to have it completely editable - but with Alchemy selling at $250 or whatever it is, I don't think they will make a true Alchemy app. Still, they need to take care of the virtual midi ports and BG audio (if at all possible) so it can work in tandem with other apps.
I did purchase the three or four sound packs - pretty neat stuff! _________________ Dave

I have made ONE track already with the Alchemy app. I'm going to maybe upload it to Soundcloud, as soon as I'm happy about using Soundcloud as a way of getting music out there (which I'm sure it excels at?!) _________________ ACHTUNG!
