How to route the pitch stick out thru MIDI send modules? |
|
|
I'd expected that if I connected the KBD input modules "pitch" output
(instead of "note" output) to a MIDI Note send module, that it would
route pitch bend (& glide) info as well as notes. It doesn't.
So - how do you do it? There are prog change send modules,
and control send modules, but no pitch-bend send modules.
So how can you route the pitch-stick out thru a MIDI send? |

AFAIK you cant, must be coming in a future rel
It is a pity because PB is the only midi command that is both signed and 14bit. |

Hmm. Are you maybe using the wrong module? It seems to me that the kyd module SHOULD work, but what happens if you try using the controller module instead (the one with individual outs for stick & wheel? _________________ Dave Peck |

i was making some prototype gizmos this past weekend that use the pitch bend stick as a control. attatched is a demo, with the constant knob assigned to midi cc #20.
edit: added a picture since it may be quicker to just look at and implement

I think you guys misunderstand the problem ... |
|
|
I'm not having difficulty controlling internal G2 patches with the
pitch wheel - I'm having difficulty using the MIDI "send" modules
(under the MIDI module section) to route the pitch stick to either
external gear or to patches in other slots.
I suppose for the patches in other slots I could find a way to make
some patches respond to another controller like the pitch stick, but
that won't help for external gear.
Really, I think there should be a way to send the pitch stick using the
MIDI sends ... probably I'll post this on wish list. |

hmmm...
Why do you need to use the CtrlSend module ?
The pitch stick sends his values on the channel of the patch you are pitch-sticking, independently.
I successfully recorded pitch-stick movements on my soft-seq several times.
I was also happy to notice that I could do things like this:
1) record the notes on a midi-track
2) record the pitch-stick movements on another track while the notes track was playing
3) blend the two tracks and find out that now notes are affected by pitch stick movements.
(indeed it's no hard work to make me happy... )
Am I missing the point ? |

Pitch bend has its own MIDI status and is not part of the MIDI Control group. It is unique in that it offers signed (+ or -) values in up to 14 bit resolution. Clavia seem to have locked it in with the keyboard midi data which is a little inflexible for a modular. Lets say you want Slot A’s pitch bend following an envelope signal in Slot B, the G2 currently has no module to make this work. |
