Some users have reported problems with 1.x and have rolled back to 0.xx. Also, some people prefer Proteum (Windows, only) http://www.emigr8.me.uk/music/tools/proteum.htm . Purely personal preference and whichever works best on your system. I have great respect for both Jan Eidtmann and Keith Young for their P2K synth engine preset editors.

Ah, well I'm on mac so that's why I use it. I have had no problems with 1.0 though. |

I have always liked the FLTK graphics he did. A few years back, I tried to talk JanE into pulling the arp panel out and turning it into a 32 voice/channel arp controller. I forget what the issue was with doing that (other than it not being something he was interested in doing). If I recall correctly the arps would have to be rewritten constantly and that would use up rewrites rather rapidly.
(I don't do much with either of the editors other than try to diagnose issues people have in the Yahoo E-Mu gear forums. I did have lots of fun testing the early versions, though.)

No, I didn't know that when I began looking for a new toy, but came to realise pretty quickly once I'd got it
It all started with a search for a new synth that did something "a bit different" from the others. Somewhere along the way I read about the original E-Mu Audity (which would have cost £70,000 if they'd ever found someone who could afford one) and its heritage, which lead me to the XL-1

Thanks. TBH I have rarely (if ever) built a patch from scratch. At the moment I usually start with presets, tweak them, grab samples, chuck the samples through VST FX / sequencers and sample the outputs again, so they sit conveniently on an MPC pad, ready for sequencing.
Thanks for the tip. I've downloaded it and will have a play in due course. _________________ It may stop, but it never ends. |

Very cool, AI! And a 13-pin equipped banjo too!? Coolness for sure
I really like the VG-99. When not using the resynthesis features, it's one helluva fx processor too - best one I've got.

Thanks for the review! Actually, the first thing my son Jeremy and I did was to run a straight audio cable in from the guitar, skipping the synth, to try it out as an fx processor. Easier to see what the layers are doing by not starting out using them all at once. It is indeed a great fx processor. Also, I didn't realize that it would integrate so seamlessly with the FC-300 foot controller that I've had for several years, which the Vg-99 takes over via MIDI sysex. That integration also works very well. _________________ When the stream is deep

Thanks. I'll have to play around with reproducing the problem. My xtsa has a few problems of its own at the moment to address first. _________________ When the stream is deep

Congrats on the VG-99! So far, I've only used mine with Roland GK3 pickups - due to successfully deflating GAS for new guitars, particularly those with piezo-based hex pickups like the Godins, newer Carvins, etc.
One of my projects this year is to set up m FC-300 to control both the VG-99 and the Octatrack, using a switch to toggle between Standard Mode (VG-99) and CC Mode (Octatrack).
Here is a recent demo of MIDI CC filter modulation of the GR-300 model:

After about a year of waiting for Ken to build it, this arrived yesterday. I've got it in front of it's elder brother. It's a Micromac-D.
2 LFOs, 3 VCOs, VCF, VCA, 2 EGs, S&H, noise, and a lot of internal signal paths, and a Kenton midi-CV converter built in. The idea was to have something small to work with the Eigenharp, this will do that but it'll also work beautifully with everything else in here. Worth waiting a year for.

Because my NM begged for it (the sequencer, though I'm having massive fun with the internal sounds). Also, I have a renewed interest in leisurely making techno music, and I hate composing that stuff with cubase, sitting down...eugh! That thing has bunch of groove templates... making tasty, swinging techno is a real pleasure with this. I have not yet paid for it... as my friend said "Just... take it out of my closet, use it and put it out of it's misery... it went straight in there once i got the lcd replaced. Enjoy."
YAY!
I'd still love to compare it to the Yam Rm1x, in terms of workflow and realtime tweaking/manipulating the sequences.

Seems they like they are giving away the Nord Drum for free.. at least almost for free?! In Denmark!
See this link: http://www.4sound.dk/shop/moduler-og-triggere/nord/drum.html
The unit is now 134 Euro.. ( 114 British Pounds / 172 USD ) _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Just a word about the 505... the sound I generate sequencing external synths isn't tight with the internal sound engine. It's a bit of a downer. I was hoping to be able to use the internal hi-hats and claps and stuff...
Still very fun. Im on the lookout for an Rm1x or anything someone can suggest that slipped my attention. |
