Synth Noodles Compilation Project Subject description: noodle contributions |
 |
|
My contribution ... will just post both ... or all three .. or all four
mp3, flac, wren and jpg.
As you can see a noodle is just a compression method oh it is a life form too
The title is "43 - it knobs"
The copyright situation is that you can use this for whatever you like as long as you credit me. When you do not credit me you can still listen. The fine print is :
'43 - it knobs' by Blue Hell is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Based on a work at http://electro-music.com/forum/post-405041.html#405041.
There also is a Nord Modular G2 patch involved, it adds a lightly compressed version over the source stream, to give it a bit more body. Also the sundcard adds a bit of echo and reverb.
These recordings are a snapshot of course .. the real thing will be on for a bit longer here

Here is my contribution. It works well as a song, but not as impressive of a noodle as Jan's track.
If it doesn't make the cut then please let me know why - maybe I can make some changes.
***Edit: This patched maxed out my i3 with 3GB of ram. If you have anything less than that, then it will run sluggish and might lock up wren.***

A single C1 note playing a single Tranzistow patch consisting of 4 oscillators, 4 ladder filters and 4 LFOs interacting with each other in a semi-random fashion, slowly evolving in their own directions from a common centerpoint. I started Tranzistow, had a lunch and just stopped recording after returning back ...

This one was made entirely in Madrona Labs Aalto synth plugin. Attached is also a screenshot and the preset itself. I understand that not everybody has bought the plugin but the preset is here for those who are interested.
If needed I can provide a FLAC link but here is just the mp3 for now.

I cooked this Noodle up on the Dual MFOS Soundlab II driving the Nord G2 synthesizers with a Sonuus G2M pitch to MIDI convertor. It is mostly autonomous, but I did some tweaking here and there to tighten things up as it moved along.

Should have warned you, its, uh, like the rest of the internet that rely on such things as part of their <cough> design.
As for the non-commercial. All tracks are published under the CC license: Attribution Non-commercial Share Alike. The "BuyNow" is, unfortunately, a function of Bandcamp. Most people enter $0 for the free download, but Bandcamp relies on some small number of people paying out or courtesy so they can take a fee from that. _________________ Jack Hertz.com | Aural Films Last edited by Jack_Hertz on Wed Nov 26, 2014 8:24 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Long story... but, there was a big discussion on Facebook about what is, and is NOT, a Noodle. Ultimately, I felt all that matters is people try to do something with the concept without a lot of rules getting in the way. If someone wants to try with Apps, MIDI gear, or whatever, why not? That said, I just liked this one most and had to be honest about tweaking it a bit. _________________ Jack Hertz.com | Aural Films |

For me it's easy. If someone starts fiddling with it, that person is part of the noodle. You can formalise it by stating rules for your behaviour, for example: "If the LFO speeds up, I trigger sample X" etc etc...
...of course, you could continue along that philosophy and look at every aspect of a person's behaviour as a set of rules. Many people do that as a career. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

Late in with a quiet one. All done in Nord Modular G2, running the attached patch. No processing, besides normalizing the recording in Audacity.
